She should still be able to keep them warm enough, they will rotate under her. If you want to give a bit of heat, you could add a 75 watt bulb. Be careful not to have the lamp too Low, it is a fire hazard.

My babies that are 5 ish weeks old have an ecoglow. Last night I did plug in the 25 watt bulb, just to give them a bit of comfort since it was so cold, and they aren't fully feathered yet. They are outside in a small coop.
thank you Happy Chooks. How low would you say is too low? I didn't want mom to be able to be in contact with it, so it's high enough for her to not touch it. But not sure how much it helps at that height. I do have the metal guards on the front of the lamp that it came with for protection.
Yes, they do seem to be totating and are mostly content. So I have the 150 watt, but you think 75 is sufficient? I guess I feel bad when I go out there all bundled up and they're rotating under her

I think the one with the yellow comb is a pullet.
Thanks Ron, I am holding out hope are you talking about the one in the second shot?

Tommysgirl - both look like cockerels to me. Look at those tree trunks for legs on #1.
Yeah I am thinking boy on number 1 too. If #2 turns out to be a pullet I think I will name her "Hope"...If they are both cockerels they are "Supper" and "Dinner"

@chiqita thanks for the heads up re the eggs.

Yes the second picture.

If they would hold sill you could get better pictures too....They must be camera shy?

Do you plan on hatching any NN chicks? Showgirls are the Silkie type right?
Ill have showgirls. At some point I will stop having the hard feathered ones when flame stops giving me surprise chicks, lol. IM not sure what my silkie pens will look like next year, I have a VERY nice blue showgirl roo coming up, and a clean necked white roo and of course flame. nOT SURE WHO ELSE WILL MAKE THE CUT. ( opps kitten caps)

Ron my Crele Rooster got a good amount of Frostbite
the Empordanesa , Black Penedesenca and younger Crele rooster really did not.

I rubbed everyones comb with Vetrex and really rubbed his good and rubbed his wattles rubbed them all except I could not reach the younger crele but his comb is small anyways. Ill do it again tomorrow.
Vetrex is oily like vaseline but also helps them fire colds and is healing

We've been doing that, but by the time we get home from work, it's frozen solid again. Is a tea kettle of water, morning and night enough hydration for them?

Does it thaw during the day there?

If not and it happens for a lot of days, you may need a heated water fountain.

I had to use the tea kettle to thaw out an auto water fountain this morning.
