California - Northern

what color eggs do they lay? are their legs feathered?
They lay light brown eggs. Their legs have black spots on them--according to the Spanish Standard. They are a yellow skinned yellow legged breed.

I am waiting for mine to start laying eggs. BTW, All of the pictures are of the same hatch. They get darker as they age.

They remind me of the mottled orps, they're very light as chicks and darken as they grow. Stunning birds Ron!

not to us it isn't...hang out with us here for as long as you want to be here.

Thank you! I have grown to really care about the people here in Northern CA. I am happy its a state of mind. It will help me through the adjustment as we may be moving next year too. We are not happy with our choice of a home but it allows for our chickens and thats ok with me.

The Pita Pinta information said that the pattern is not mottled. " The colour pattern of the Pinta Asturiana is not mottled or exchequer but it's own black and white colour pattern."

In the 1980's someone tried to recreate them but could not. The experts do not know for sure what went in to getting them to be a breed.

Haven't been on in a while. We thought winter was in but it really fizzled on the snow end. The pack in my yard is 6-8 inches . However the temps are yuck . We are stable lows at 10-15 but hit a week of -10 below . AND we (by order if the cheif) had to get the serama out! In a warm spell.... 15 low... Put them with the olandsk dwarfs. I figured they were a better shot than the mean old hatchery fatties. And would you believe they're still alive living under a few choice hens!!!!!! The olandsk Roos watch them closely,
But only interrupt disturbances and are NOT aggressive. I did see senior roo put the whooping to a fatty hatchery Hen for picking on his girl but as soon as she stopped so did he ! Amazing birds!!! And the fatty is three times as large! Since the olandsk girls don't fight back I segregated them from the hatchery girls...

So I have been struggling with feeling well. Couldn't quite shake it and hello... Were expecting. That's why I'm a few thousand post behind! When I went to my midwife thinking I was 10 weeks... Nope over 14, now were at 17 weeks. Time flies !

Hope everyone is well this winter,
Flowers.
Congratulations!!! That's exciting news!

Yep, mine are a lot darker than they were. Ron, I sent a PM to Megan to ask about eggs. I asked her to put us both on her egg list. The more we talk up this wonderful breed, the more people will contact her for eggs/chicks. I wanted to make sure we were on the list!
