So it doesn't matter if you breed brown over blue verses blue over brown?

that i don't know for certain, but i can't see why it would matter -- each parent contributes one gene, but i can't see why it would make a difference whether that gene comes from a male or a female? for body coloring, it can matter greatly which breed is which gender, but i don't think it makes a difference for egg color.

Yes since the genes egg shell color are not sex linked( They are homozygous) It does not matter which parent has the blue genes or brown genes.

Great discussion!

It is possible it matters but unlikely. Not like the barring genes.
With the CL X CP(Cream Legbar X Crele Pene) It does not matter for the barring either!

Nicklandia explained it for us on the Legbar Hybrid Thread.

That's why they are auto sexing and not sex linked!
But isn't it the difference in the male and female barring genes that make that work?

Hi Juststruttin...I'm another BYC enabler like the rest if this group. I have 2 mini pigs: Charlotte and Wilbur

They actually contribute to the farm by being my "cleanup crew". They eat the weeds and all the fruit that has fallen from the trees. They come running when called and love to have their bellies scratched. And they leave no mess; only relieving themselves on the property.

Niclandia thinks the autosexing will not work after the first cross.

Really?? Why not? Are there different genes involved like the 2 different ways of getting chocolate?
It has to do with Eb becoming bb or something.

See, I need to get a genetics book and or a course or two....
