I do not have the foam on the outside. I put the egg in and push the foam put against the egg. I have had one come loose once or twice but have not had much of a problem. Thanks Ron, is your foam on the outter most edges or just in the middle dividers? If you don't use the foam, do you have issues with the eggs falling out a lot?
It looked like the humidity strip hung down CLOSE to the eggs but I couldn't tell if they were touching. Brinsea said they will touch so they said to lay the eggs down where the strip is. Maybe if i could tilt them it would work.
I guess I could just try it. with the strip it sounded like the middle eggs would go bad. But I don't want to pay for shipping back and forth and add $250 for the other one.
I hatched so many eggs in my Octagon 40 last season that I had to have the motor replaced. Eggs have not been hurt by the humidity strip. It is in the middle of mine and I have two baskets. The NYD Hatch had the eggs in the middle of the basket and all of the fertile eggs hatched with not problem.
The Octagon 20 strip might be different though.
