California - Northern

Hi Wendy,
Welcome.............I love it here in Turlock. We are out west of town in the Chatom school district. We are just a 1/4 mile off West Main on S. Commons. We have been here 35 years in March.
What chickens have you gotten into? Do you live in town or in the country?
Karen

Well thank you............... How kind of you to say. I find that joining in the posts too much feeds my compulsive nature & really wanted to curb myself so stopped participating much & sold off much of what I had. It became way more than I was willing or able to care for.. I let all the pheasants & quail go & am back to my original passion of DPLF.
I am looking forward to having the get together again in May. I am sorry the member that wanted to do the next one wasn't able to. I would have gladly continued. It was such a nice time for all of us.

Hi Liz...Good idea We always meet up with the same people we already know. I did meet a few new ones this year though. Maybe more can come to the Chicken party in May. I am in Turlock as you know & a lot of members thought that to be centrally located.

Well, I see you made it....minus the chicken. I saw you talking to Chiquita at the lunch table. I was at the next table on the end with the walker. I met several new people but didn't get all the names. I was glad to see your picture here & know who you are.

The rooster died. I don't know why. He was just dead in the pen. Never got any chicks from them. The eggs were never fertile & I trimmed their bottoms. Still have the hen. She is beautiful & I have her in with a regular Blue Orp of good size.

I'm sorry Karen!

I had to trim too, to get good fertility from my birds.

I hope you can get some chicks from your remaining girl, she's a Splash, right?

Anyone ever use the farm innovations pro incubator? Look cheap and I'm in the market for a cheap backup for my eggs not shipped ones lol about 80 bucks less than the genesis with the turner and fan too

It was good for the first few hatches then went insane. And the turner broke faster then other I have. Are you watching craigslist? They pop up there (styrafoam incubators). I'm thinking of getting a few digital pid controllers and making mine digital. But then I think I almost never use them...
