California - Northern

Anyone ever use the farm innovations pro incubator? Look cheap and I'm in the market for a cheap backup for my eggs not shipped ones lol about 80 bucks less than the genesis with the turner and fan too

That's the one I have. I hatched with it about 3 times last year. I had about 60-75% hatch rate, but I hadn't hatched chicks in many years. The dials on the top are not very accurate, especially the humity. I bought a digital thermometer/hygrometer after the first run. Better success with the subsequent 2 hatches. That is the one I am thinking about putting a bigger window on top of though. I like to see what is going on....

Got my D'uccles! Splash and black mottled!
Pretty. And your bird looks good too

Congratulations on the purchase. If you have them I will want eggs but probably not for over a year, I am all about the mottled and the splash!

I love this one! Wish I could take him home
Is he a white rock?? I am thinking of adding some at some point. I <3 my chocloate rock girl. So sweet and a very dependable layer too. I have heard the whites are great for temperament and production

I hope to make the Fresno show since I'm so close. I'm also looking to add white to my egg basket this year and was planning on using Norwegian Jaerhon's. There's a breeder in Coursegold. What's LFDP?
farmhand I know you were thinking about CA Greys too. You won't be disappointed if you go that route. Because they are not APA recognized they get no love from the ALBC, But based on my casual observations, they seem to be critically endangered. Finding a breeder is nearly impossible and the heritage preservation hatcheries like Urch and Sandhill don't carry them. The roosters are used to cover Leghorns to get CA Whites but no one seems to care about saving the breed.

I hope you can find some close to you so that you can experience how fun they are.

I can't find anywhere what I'll get with this cross on colors: lavender AM with Blue copper Marans for an olive egger. I've searched it and BLACK coppers are supposed to give Black crosses, but nothing on Blues with a Lav. Can anyone help?
Also, I once in a while see ads for sale, but was wondering where the section is specifically for all ads. Can't find any direct links, I only occasionally come by an ad in a search.

Blue x lav is not a recommended cross. They are two different genes. Lavender (lav) is recessive and needs two copies to show, Blue is incomplete dominant and shows with one copy. Black is no copies of Blue - but CAN hide one copy of lav. Lavender and splash can look the same - although the splash will look washed out. They did it with Silkies and they are STILL having trouble with B/B/S breeding pens when lavender shows up.
Gene charts:

Your cross would have both of these combined.. and very hard to tell Black from Splits and Blue from Splits and Splash from Splits from Splash/Lavenders.. genetically a color mess.

Hmmm…so I could get Blacks, Blues or Splashes you think? No lavs but splash/lav split? I'm just trying to get some pretty OE and want to try it out. Wish I had some pretty Blue AM to cross the Blue Copper Marans with. But the Lavs are all I have now. I figured Blue to Blue would be best, but since they're just OE I wanted to try. I put 2 in the bator so we'll see what I get. Thank you so much ChickNmamma

To use those well you need to buy a membership. It is very worth it for the best extras
Just the first upgrade right? I don't need the premium one?
