Is the hygrometer correct? Put it out on the porch, wait a half hour and then compare the reading to one from a weather service website. The numbers should be close.

Popcorn is better.

I pulled out a second and swapped them . One in the room and one in the bator. Room is 47 bator is 57. So still going down but I'm going to try popped popcorn to go for 40 ish. Thanks for the idea!

You do not have to pop the pop corn. It absorbs moisture better than rice. Just put it into the water channels.

Bahahaha I'm crazy aren't i. Ok non popped popcorn. Oh my. Last year it was hard to raise the humidity! I'm going to trade frustrated for determined. I suppose this is where it's good to hatch your own eggs rather than ship.

Humidity is funny--it changes by season and from day to day. It it was lower before it will likely go down soon for you again.

I am sure you will get it to the correct percentage soon.

Rice in the incubator

Ahh… now I get it. I was wondering why we were randomly putting rice and popcorn in the bators. Thought it was movie night or something.

So it helps absorb humidity, interesting.
I've figured I need to make computers notes of all the awesome info I get here. It just doesn't work well to have to search the thread for all of the details. There's just too much to remember.

Here are some recent pics of my Pita Pinta pullets. They can be hard to take pics of because as soon as I go out there, they mob me. They don't seem to be leary of the camera at all unlike most of my other birds. They aren't quite at POL but soon! Zoro caught one yesterday and had his way with her! I put out an extra nest box yesterday with a fake egg in it.

3 pics of the same pullet. She was very interested in the camera!





This pullet has the most white out of the 7 pullets.
