ok, here are the three hatchlings so far (with pips showing on two more eggs) -- one blue isbar and two birchen marans:

the one that's standing was the one that had trouble breaking through the egg last night! looks very strong and healthy.

and here's the little blue isbar all by itself:

very sweet face!

Here are some recent pics of my Pita Pinta pullets. They can be hard to take pics of because as soon as I go out there, they mob me. They don't seem to be leary of the camera at all unlike most of my other birds. They aren't quite at POL but soon! Zoro caught one yesterday and had his way with her! I put out an extra nest box yesterday with a fake egg in it.

3 pics of the same pullet. She was very interested in the camera!

This pullet has the most white out of the 7 pullets.
Gorgeous!!!

Someone...Ron maybe??? said at some point last hatching season that the chicks that power through and make it often seem stronger. Maybe it was Deb regardless this is a super cute baby. What are the other ones?? Sorry I forget and just because I covet Isbars, Both Blue and Splash may hatch from the same pairing right?

yes, if the parents are some combination of blue and splash, those are the colors -- or blue + blue and you get all three options. one of the two pipping ones has broken a small chunk of shell off and the feathers inside look blue -- i have two teen-aged splash pullets and a 8-month-old blue cockerel, so all shades are welcome!

and the two black ones in the above photo are birchen marans -- will be black with silver at the neck, very pretty.

Yes, the ones that get out on their own after seeming to be stuck are often the healthiest ones.

It seems like Isbars are having problems with hatching and thriving after hatch. I would hesitate to help them even if the eggs were very expensive just to help them with vigor.

Of course they may just not ship well.

This is totally off subject although I dearly love the Isbars. So pretty!

My 8 month old cries when I leave her to go get wood for the fire place. My solution has been to put her in the jumper and call the chickens. She loves to watch them! We have naughty chickens that don't know when to quit. I had to shoo them out today.

it was a birchen marans chick that had trouble, not the isbar -- it got out with no problems. mine have all thrived, so far at least -- i've had bad luck with hatching shipped eggs (which may be operator error as much as the effects of the shipping process!), but the only problem i've had with isbars is that the first two pullets i had (from Miss Molly) got eaten by a bobcat.

Bobcats are a different type of operator error lol.
