rain on the roof this morning! none of that wimpy misty stuff, but real big-drops-splatting-down-from-the-sky RAIN!!!

more of a costal hills storm though we do have a 30% chance of Rain/snow here

Hatching question here;
I've read here that some leave their eggs in egg cartons during lock-down for hatching as it gives good results. Should I cut holes on the bottoms of the carton? Does using either cardboard or Styrofoam mater?
Starting lock-down Monday morning.

I use cardboard. I don't know if you have to cut holes but I do since the humidity is higher

OMG!

My middle DD asked what was wrong with the chicks? That is a very odd noise, is one hurt?

I listened and heard a little 4 week old cockerel crowing!

I cut the top but not the bottom. Cutting the top lets the air circulate better and lets the chicks get off of it easier.

How exciting!!! I hope that you have an excellent hatch!

I use the cardboard/paper ones and cut holes on the bottom. I have heard of people using the styrofoam ones, too. I just always seem to have the paper ones. I cut the holes for ventilation and humidity.

And Jason has such pretty birds!. I think Little Pedler is just hype, personally. I would cry if I paid $175 for 6  Little Pedler eggs and ended up with the ones I saw 

The whole point is new genetics. I say we henseminates instead! Those lbs were odd id be sad too.
