OK...question for you all. I just ordered 12 BC Marans eggs and 6 OE eggs. They should be here tomorrow. My original plan was to put them all under my broody Blue Wyandotte. Then came the Mottled Ameraucanas on "The NEW Crazy 24hr AUCTION thread". So now I will be getting 10+ of those and they are supposed to ship out today so will likely be here on Thursday. That will definitley be waaaay to many for my broody to handle. I just went and set up my incubator to get it stabilized becasue I know I am going to need to use it. Any suggestions as to how I should divide these up? I was initially thinking I would do 1/2 of all under the broody and 1/2 in the bator, but I know the Marans eggs usually do better with a dry hatch. I but don't know if the humidity needs of the others is significantly different enough to warrant different incubation methods....or if there even is a difference. I have only hatched Marans eggs and duck eggs in this incubator. Any help would be greatly appreciated.....

Assuming the chicks look different, you could split them evenly. I suspect you might have trouble with the OE chicks--They may look too much like the Ameraucana chicks at hatch depending on what they are crossed with.

To be safe, I would make sure the OE eggs were all in one place and then band them when they hatched.

I hope the eggs all get to you ok!

A few days ago an egg wash safe for hatching eggs was posted. We have a couple pullets that keep sleeping in the egg boxes so I end up with dirty eggs sometimes. I'm gathering for a hatch and would like to wash them. Last time I put a slightly smutty one in and it didn't grow. I wondered if it might not be bacteria so I want to avoid that.

Is the wash a pre-made product I can buy or is it made at home? I can't find the posting. Perhaps one of you uses it and knows what I am talking about? Thanks so much - appreciate all the knowledge so freely shared on this forum!

Mana Pro egg cleanser. I picked it up at TSC. It has enzymes so I imagine you could make something that would work.

@ChickenCanoe posted a citrus cleaner that is supposed to improve hatch rates. I think it was made from Lemon Juice.

I wasnt really thinking about telling them apart, but you are right! The Mottled Ameraucana could look like the OE. I will definitley need to keep them separated. I take you don't think the humidity will make a differnce though. They should all do equally well with the dry method?

It was a premade product thatthey were debating making at home. Ron linked it, but I don't remember what it was.
A friend just posted this on Facebook. Thought you all would get a kick out of it. .
I saw that on 2 pages today! Too cute.
