Will they have a web cast up tomorrow of the debate?
You can watch it on YouTube for a limited time. The broadcast closed down one browser and then kept cutting out in the second browser. It was frustrating so I'm going to watch it later on YouTube. We went to Costco instead and had pizza.

I caught the first 20 minutes or so. I will watch more tomorrow.

How long is a marans laying cycle? The eggs are super dark and then lighten as they go but how long does that take before they start over again to super dark?

@farmhand posted a picture of a Beautiful Cream Legbar X RIR pullet that hatched yesterday on the Cream Legbar Hybrid thread.

I hope we get to see some pictures here soon!

I started out only planning to breed my Marans. But then started adding this, then that. And the last day I had one more spot left so I picked up a RIR egg in the Cream Legbar Ro pin. She's now my favorite.

She is very cute!

Consider the balance on the OD a gift.  : )   I cannot remember what transaction is pending on the Basque.    Do you owe $  for basque, or did you want to get birds?     :hide    Sorry,  My memory is terrible and last year's chicken file is now in storage.

Well that's a special gift. A huge pay it forward for me to pass on:-) Thank you.

The basque had went into molt when your
Mama brought the OD up. I was wanting chicks but could go for eggs . ( I really want chicks!) but that was before the holidays then life got crazy. So.... If a basket of chicks can be smuggled up whenever the cabin gets checked on....

Whenever they stop laying for a long period of time. Moult, broody, stopping for winter. I think it takes about a/month to get the gun reprimed. But as the eggs get bigger you are spreading the same amount of pigment o. A bigger surface so they are never as dark again.

The laying cycle gets shorter as the Hen gets older. Molting is then harder and more often. They will lose more feathers with each molt. The inside of the egg changes too and the white part gets kind of looser. Pullet eggs are best for baking. Older Hen eggs are good for hard boiling.

All of them are better than store eggs!

You're right. It has peanut meal. Sorry to hear your son has allergies. My friends son is severely allergic to peanuts. We took him to Tahoe with us and had to be so careful. We usually make PB and J sandwiches for the slopes but I was so worried about cross contamination so we did not even bring PB with us to Tahoe. With PB allergies, you can never be too careful.

Thank you so much. Yes, thankfully my son only gets sick with the slightest amount of peanuts (not to be crude, but throws up). It's not a good thing, but its better than swelling up and not breathing. His Dr did recommend we keep an Epi-Pen on hand. I really liked the King Feed too. I called my feed store to ask on the price of King feed's organic. That doesn't seem to have peanut products in it.

Yes, incubating is a Gate Way Drug!

To All things Fancy in Chickens!
It is!! My family wants to go to the snow soon. I told them "well I have a hatch coming along, so if it's after that we may be taking the chicks and the brooder with us" lol!

Check to make sure what model it is. Brinsea's start I believe $160 ish (could be wrong) for the basic ones with no turner. Make sure what you find is a deal.
