@chiqita
What do u think about the Bresse? I'm holding out hope that the small one is a pullet

They look like 2 cockerels and 1 pullet to me. My experience has been that the boys grow their combs quickly. They also put on bulk quicker than the pullets so size is the second thing that I look for when sexing my chicks. I have only had a few keep me guessing for an additional week or so. How old are they now?
chiqita, what ratio of boys and girls do you hatch? My Bresse hatches have always been more boys than girls. Since we are using them for meat, that has been fine with me. I wonder if one of my two hens produces mostly boys? It will be interesting to see what this new breeding season produces.One on the bottom is a girl. Where are all these boys coming from??
Quote: There are lots people out there looking for cockerels/roosters for meat. My farm friend was given around 30 barred rock cockerels who were around 20 weeks old. (She has a friend who keeps barred rocks for eggs that she sells at several farmer's markets. She orders 500 sexed chicks at a time and the cockerels are the percentage of error. She doesn't want to deal with them processing or selling them so she gives them to Jenny.) We had already processed one group of 20+ so Jenny listed the second group of 20+ on craigslist. She priced them at $15 a piece unless they bought 10 or more and then they were $10. She sold all of them within days of listing them. She told me that there are different ethnic origin groups in our area who want big roosters and others that want older hens. When they come to the farm to get chickens, she has to tell them that they can't have my Langshan roosters. They really want the biggest roosters that they can get and my roosters definitely stand out in the field!

Don't give me those hens! Lol. I was getting 65 to 70% girls. At one stage I had a waiting list of people who wanted breese as flock roosters.
Liz you could advertise them as great protectors and Good genes. People read a bit and add them as the boy in the mixed flock.
