California - Northern

Last night I went to Home Depot to get supplies to repair the irrigation system that feeds the raised beds and orchard. I walked by the tool aisles like any guy and couldn't help but buy some brand new Dewalt goodies. Impact, Drill, Radial Arm Saw etc. Well, as I was getting ready to pay the gal, I thought, I think it's time to treat my chooks with some new stuff. Grabbed some supplies, came home and made this unit. I built this whole unit for the price of one commercially made 4 section nest box. And today it is time to build a 45 degree double tier ladder style roost in the coop. They will love this stuff...well, they better haha.

Very nice! I bought my DH a set of Dewalt cordless tools for Christmas! He loves them and I'm looking forward to using them on our next chicken project!

That is very exciting!

Post a picture and let is know what it weighs in grams.
All of my girls want to lay in that box so I'm not sure I'll know which egg is hers. Maybe today it will be only one brown egg and the rest will be blue! My friend at the farm is collecting eggs from our black Langshan trio. I was there yesterday and their eggs are huge! They have only been laying since the end of January but the eggs don't look like pullet eggs at all. We are working on pens there on Saturday so I'll bring home what she has collected and weigh them.

Liz looking at your puctures I think your chicks have duck feet! I have never seen it before. Could just be the angle of the photos. You arent showing are you?

Wierd. :/. Like webbed? Nope, not showing.[/quote]
No it means the toes in the back are Flat and not up The leg. Or at least that is what I thought it ment lol

I have 150 chicks that I need to vaccinate within an hour. Its gonna be tight. I really dislike vaccinating!! I really wish I could do it in the Ovum. Life would be sooo much simpler.

Went in the run today to let my flock out and there's quite a few piles of bright green poo. My one pullet that was sickly first seems fine now. My Roo crowed at me today . That's more then he did yesterday. But is still not getting down from the roost. :(((

Now my Buff Orp hen isn't getting down either!

I'm so frustrated and nervous about all this! I have no experience with sick birds! And there was absolutely no signs of any illness before the rain storms.

I put Corid in their water. Removed the AVC water. I put Vetrx on their Combs and waddles. I treated them with frontline plus (there was not a single bug of any sort on any of them) that I could see. Putting cayenne powder on their food and giving them free choice fresh chopped garlic.

I'm at a loss! Feeling overwhelmed by their poor state. I want to help them! Is there anything else I could/should do?
