@ronott1 i asked this earlier but didnt really get a "straight answer" my incubator temp dropped down around 80 last night (it was still 80 this morning) is that gonna mess up the eggs?

Okay, just in case you haven't already read...The Chicken party at my house here in Turlock has been set for May 18th 11 a.m.
I will do roasters full of some kind of chicken like last time.
Bring side dishes like salads, casseroles, fruits, veggies etc. Or you can bring desserts, soft drinks and snacks.
We will have a free raffle again so if you have anything chicken related you want to donate feel free.......... we accept all donations....LOL
I hope to have a fodder feeder set up & a greens tray with a wire top for inside the pens & put them on the raffle table & crafts of course....
My daughter says the snow cone machine is still doing great & I have lots of different syrups for it. The kids loved that last time.
Cari (my daughter) wants to get a cotton candy machine. She has lots of kids parties out at the pool.
The kids all had fun swimming last time while we all "chicken talked" so be sure to bring swimsuits & towels for them.
I hope a lot of you can set up trades, buys, sells of all different chicks, eggs, etc. I am hopping to get a few new, never had before breeds just for different pullets for the layer pen...........maybe Caliornia Grays, Pinta Pitas, Cream Legbars, and Isbars. ....LOL a lady can dream can't she????......LOL
We try to do a meet & greet go round to make sure everyone knows who & "where from" everyone is & what breeds they have.
Anyone that can come please RSVP to me on private message or call 209-667-6667 and let me know. I will be keeping track to have tables & chairs etc.....
Please feel free to share any fun ideas or suggestions with us. Any questions please contact me. Julie & Teresa from Madera are helping too.

I probably can't come but might be able to send some raffle stuff. I can't really drive that far with my health issues. I have to have my DH drive me to Dr appts in Sacramento. I would love to meet everyone, but just don't think it is feasible for me. I will let you know if I get some raffle stuff together though and I'll get you address then.

No for once that low. The worst is that it can delay the hatch by a couple of hours. It it happened more times than it can kill them though.

A little heater was less then 20 at the Grocery outlet with a thermostat. I have one in my closet and use it to keep the temperature in there from dropping below 65 at night. If you could find a small space and get a little heater like that it would help a bunch.

I had that happen a few years ago for a day. I ended up with about 12 out of the 42 hatch.
Is it corrected now? how far along where the eggs. My eggs where earlier along

If you can fit it put a small snack size cup of Baking soda in there to help absorb the fumes. Change it every day so it's able to absorb more. Next time you need to clean off blood try spraying with Hydrogen peroxide. It bubbles up and removes the blood and other body fluids with out the odors. I'd say that if you can without over cooling the eggs use a baking soda/water slurry to clean up the bator then reload it. You could put the eggs into a box with a towel covering a heating pad on medium heat (one pad on top and one on bottom if you have a lot of eggs) It will keep the temp until your bator heats back up.
Thank you so much for the suggestions. I got called to a birth (I'm a doula) and had to run. When a laboring mommy calls, I have to drop everything to arrange childcare and necessities before I leave. The eggs had to be put on the back burner and they sat there in those fumes.

I opened the lid and took a good sniff this morning. It smells a lot better. Only lifted the lid twice yesterday to let out fumes then didn't get home until 1 am. So, I will put BS (that's funny) in a container and just hope for the best. At this point most of the smell is already gone.

Thank you again for the suggestion, I kind of wish I'd been able to follow through on it. I'd never trade being at a birth though. That's always an awesome experience!

I don't know why I didn't think of the peroxide. Dumb day I guess. That's what we use for laundry too. Thanks again!

Walmart has those little plastic ones for $15. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Pelonis-Fan-Forced-Heater-with-Thermostat/21804031
I had a temp drop in the first week on my last hatch (it was 90 when I went to check on the eggs in the morning. My daughter had opened a window in the room the 'bator was in. It didn't kill any of them.

That's too bad.............. Maybe you could hitch a ride with someone else & not have to drive. I am looking forward to a really nice raffle table thanks for your offer. I hope to get a lot of different things going. I have just been looking at cotton candy machines on line. I don't normally promote sugary treats, but for a special occasion it would be a special treat for all the kids.
