Were the eggs cold? Mine get up to eat and drink but then go back.
no, another pullet was on them long enough to add her egg to the nest and then mama broody went back. I guess that she will park herself on them when the time is right...at least I hope so.

Remember when I told you that Hattie didn't want to go to bed in the coop and on clear nights refused. The General tries to coax her inside but when she doesn't go he joins her on the roost. I just think he is the sweetest boy. He doesn't keep the peas away like Ray but he is so happy to have girls at last that he is an utter gentleman.Well that is except in the morning. He spends the fist 20 minutes after being let out of the coop chasing and dancing and wooing and the girls are just not into it. He makes a pest of himself for sure

@juststruttin this pic is for you in particular.

Does anyone know if chickens are legal in Sacramento 95864 (he lives in a place called Arden arcade) he also said he loves outside of city limits in the county.

Liz, that's where Jessica (Alibra) lives. Maybe she can tell you what you need to know. I haven't seen her post today. Maybe you should PM her.

I know in sac you can have 3, but they supposedly require a yearly "coop fee" and you have to "license" each chicken. I posted the link for the Sacramento city code a couple pages back. I'll see if I can find it.
