Great Pictures and very helpful for seeing development.

Was the egg cracked in shipping?
No, it was cracked by the duck on the nest and I found it when I candled the other 17 eggs.

I have a video of the heart beating, but need to figure out how get the video "thing" to work.

Set up a Youtube or Vimeo account then use the insert movie tool.

I can't wait to see the video!

So the shipping would almost be as much as the birds themselves.
i ghink our postmaster said $28.30 i think for express
Express shipping within California is usually around $42 if you print your label on line and $62 if you go in the PO. Plus you have to factor in the cost of the shipping box. I charge $13 for my boxes which is my cost.

Express shipping to the East coast is $65 online.

The above costs are based on a Economy NEST shipping box which measures 16" x 16" x 16", Single Shippers Boxes may be less expensive.

You can go to USPS.com to get shipping rates if you know the size of the box being used. Keep in mind, you have to ship in a USPS approved poultry box.

Okay i looked on the usps site and for the express mail it would be $28.50 from the post office.
i still dont get why they cantbe shipped priority mail (which would only be $8.75)

It's hard to know what you are looking at here but this is LC crashed out between the mirror I stuck in the brooder and a fuzzy sock that I filled with rice and warmed in the microwave. Much happier baby today and it has started eating crumble. It continues to go behind the little mirror like it is looking for the rest of the chick. Don't know if that is really what is happening or not but I feel so sad for it. Does Western Feed have Bantams?

As for the chick being accepted by the broody, it depends on the broody. I've had some that will take chicks in no problem and others that won't. I know you are near me, so if you get strapped for a buddy for the chick, Echo Valley feed has their chicks in.
