I know it's a long shot, but anyone here breed large lavender colored meat size rabbits?

I have Americans Blues. I will have weanlings available mid May. If you need bunnies sooner, I can give you the name and number of the girl I got mine from. She is in Sebastopol and raises American Blues and Whites and American Chinchilla.

The American Chinchilla is on the Critical list and the American Blues are on the threatened list. Both are good meat rabbits and they are friendly so they make nice pets.

On that topic......today is Day 16 for my eggs so 2 more days until Lockdown. I plan to hatch in the Farm Innovator. Do I move them there on Day 18 or when I see signs of activity?

Move them on Day 18 and increase humidity for hatching. Some breeds are lazy hatchers, and others pop right out on time. If your temps were high, then they will hatch a bit early, if they were low, they'll hatch later.

Just put my little chick under the broody. There was some shifting around and some peeping but then they all 3 seemed to settle. If you pray please offer a quick one for this..and grafted families of all kinds... tonight. My main prayer is that if I need to take this bsby back I will find out in time.

Found a gal on BYC who lives in Sonoma county who will be getting Bantams on Wed or so. I will be able to find a friend for this one if the broody doesn't work out.

Going to get close to finishing the new coop tomorrow

Sold two girls to a colleague and am moving my EEs to another pen and when all that is done I will again have a non-designated overflow pen that is empty.

Call your local 4H office and ask for rabbit leaders in your area & you should be able to hunt them down that way.

The temps have been pretty right on the whole time...between 99.2 and 99.9. The humidity has varied some. Mostly it was a bit high in the Farm Innovator so that should not be a problem for hatch. I am cleaning and setting it back up today. I will let the bleach solution air out for a while before closing it back up to warm.

operation reacquaint seems to have been successful

I took my little house chick down last night and slid it under mama. This morning when I checked...the chick she had hatched herself was out in the little enclosure alone and I could here Penny clucking to it. It ran back inside and I saw it go and under her but what I figure is that she didn't follow the other (super cute little red) chick out into the wire enclosure because she was sitting on my baby. She was all fluffed up in the corner buc buc bucking looking totally maternal. So far so good!

Call your local 4H office and ask for rabbit leaders in your area & you should be able to hunt them down that way.
