I also used Sulmet when I first started, but lost chicks before I read that it only treats two strains of chicken coccidia. Once I figured out the correct dose of Corid I stopped losing chicks.

I'm really confused, lol, is the "S" drug sulfadimethoxine (DiMethox and Albon), or is it something else? I honestly don't know much about it and since I have SMZ/TMP (Sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) for horses, I probably won't need to buy any other Sulfa drugs.

I really know nothing about it, but this is what my book says about sulfadimethoxine (DiMethox and Albon):

Oh, chicks are sooooo tempting, but I really want the boys to have the experience of seeing a broody hatch and raise the babies. (Plus it's less work for me!!) A variety pack sounds wonderful. I think the porcelains are particularly beautiful. Now we just have to wait for a broody.

It will be a race between the Silkie and your buff X.

Sorry, I may not have explained that clearly. The chicks from future eggs will be a mix of all the colors. I have no idea what colors that will produce. The only ones that are a possible known color would be the khaki quail. I am really curious to see what color the khaki quail x dun cuckoo chicks in this hatch will look like.

I love the porcelain color too. I need to buy some more eggs from Boggy Bottom Bantams. I really want the Mille Fleur too. Oh, and he just developed a mottled chocolate color that is beautiful!

cute little chickies in the brooder. we have one chick who looks like he has hurt his leg. it goes out to one side and he can barely walk. did he hurt it or is it just he hasnt alot a chance to get stregth in it?

Give it vitamins and hope for the best. If it looks like Spradle leg you can fix that with vet tape.

The Sulfadimethoxine says to not give it to chickens over 16 weeks of age. Why is that? So what would be egg withdrawal?
