California - Northern

I used the wet wether to cover a few more lawn bald patches. I take compost that has turned squishy and malleable and put seed in it. Then I rough up the bald spots and spread the compost layer down like a layer of clay. Keep it wet for 10 days and profit!

The last bathch is sprouting so im feeling encouraged! Now if it just rains enough to keep the chickens off the lawn.
 
Ugh what am i doing wrong :'( we now have one dominique that died,on blk silkie and two more doms are on their way out amd i ghink theres a white silkie who is on his way out. they have fresh water,food,heat is fine so what is wrong with them? :( are they all gonna end up dying?
