California - Northern

Yay! Last night I moved my BLRWyandotte from communal nesting boxes to her own private cage & box. She didn't leave her nest so I popped 6 chocolate orp eggs underneath her.
I hope she stays the course.

Quote: I would agree, there looks to be a lot of liquid in them.

I would so totally buy that if it were near me.

@capayvalleychick Dropped off some Lamb for me when she picked up the Dells. I cooked up some for dinner last night. I found a recipe for shoulder steaks but we do not like whole grain mustard or rosemary. I did marinade in lemon juice for several hours and used a Garlic Herb spice along with thyme and black pepper.

the lamb was grilled on my cast iron grill pan to an internal temperature of just over 140 and allowed to rest. They were so good!

Cooking, check out the smoke!

Cooked!
Wait, you get to hatch chicks and then give them back - then you get meat too? What a deal!

I got an Email from the Citrus Heights City planner. It said:

I just wanted to let you know that on April 10th we will be asking the City Council if they would like staff to review the way we currently regulate chicken keeping vs the popular trend of backyard chickens. It takes time for regulations and ordinances to be changed but this will be the first step in moving the process forward.

I'm super excited!! At the council meeting they told me they had no issue with looking at changing the city code, so hopefully this will all go through.

Great news!

So that is 26.3 grams! Or is the dot for some other reason? That bird is itty bitty! 263 grams is just 9 oz. So 26.3 is the size of small eggs... I've never seen one before so it boggles the mind.

The dot is actually a g. He is the smallest rooster I have ever seen, not quite sure how it happened, but it did, lol. He has a sister, but she's quite a bit bigger. FYI, these were random eggs that a hen hatched, the other six from the same clutch are much bigger.

Hatch Video! UofA Blue X Cele Pene:
Thank you! Good timing :-)
Well I think anything that causes a resistance should be considered ( like you already Mentioned) very carefully. The usda approves of some completely harmful and crazy (IMO) things for consumption.
