thats ok. My Empordanesa lay a rainbow of shades of brown. Id like to keep the darker shades going
The eggs on the bottom were from earlier in the week. The eggs at the Bottom show the fading and then the dark again after three days of The wild bird seed mix from Costco that has BOSS in it:

The rose colored eggs are from the nicest looking Partridge Pene Pullet.

I haven't got my birds yet but im going to get MF.
Welcome to BYC coopcommander. I have a couple pet D'uccles. They are a wonderful birds and very sweet. I have over 120 adults of various breeds and it just so happens that my favorite bird of all time is a Porcelain D'uccle. You mom and grandma have met her. Her name is China.

I look forward to hearing how your project expands.

so here's the first snap of the two most-likely-white-recessive-sports marans that hatched yesterday, from eggs from two birchen hens crossed with a birchen cockerel -- there is also one black chick, and three eggs that have not yet hatched, hoping they will today. they are very cute, despite being rather unexpected from two black adults!

Okay. Probably best then that I don't get anything at the show, as I don't have a second heat lamp to put over another brooder.

Now that I think about it, I guess I could always put the two brooders next to each other and they can share a heat lamp, so long as I don't have to worry about the cardboard getting too hot from the heat lamp hanging over it. Does cardboard run the risk of burning with a heat lamp directly over it?

Would a red mite be visible on a hen's back and look a bit like a smallish tick...not deer tick size but still tickish? If so is this what I can use to treat my birds? Sorry it is backwards...used photobooth

Good idea!

The light does no have to be too close so the card board will be ok. The light would have to touch the bulb. Paper burns at 454 degrees Fahrenheit.

I'm getting eggs from my 2 year old layers.
They're huge!
So I wondered egg size weights.
EXTRA large is over 64 grams
Jumbo is over 71 grams

Mine were 73-75 and one was 77 grams!

They must think they're turkeys!

Edited for spelling
