Yes, last year it was the Porcelains and this year she switched to the Mille Fleur. I guess she likes spotted birds like her mama!I remember her pleading for some little birds at last year's Stockton? show when we were looking at those gorgeous Langshans! They were the Porcelain D'uccles weren't they? She does pick pretty birds.![]()

I am fine with them eating scattered seed and such too. It's when I see them raid the sparrow nests and eat the babies in there that my strong dislike for them comes forth. That and the fact that they are so annoyingly loud and obnoxious. I haven't found any of them in the chicken pen yet, but do find the smaller birds in their often. The pen is fully covered with poultry netting and there is only one entrance so sometime when I go in to collect eggs they fly up and get trapped until I leave, It is interesting to watch some of them try to figure out an exit while I am in there...

Yeah!!!!! I am rooting for the Marans too! Tomorrow is lockdown for my next clutch. Hopefully they will start hatching whil I am at the Red Bluff show....![]()
I read an article about it. It has to do with Organic feed and feed prices. We ship regular grain to China and China ships Organic Grain back to the US! We do not grow enough Organic grain for the Demand so the cost is very high.Anyone else seeing signs in their local or chain grocery stores about organic egg shortages?
Guess my egg-selling business will pick up this year. Yay!
When I finally talked my husband into more chickens, one of the conditions was blue eggs. Funny how colors affect people.my husband at first refused to eat blue eggs when I got them years ago. He said "whatever you do, DONT feed me those".
Well ….I did….
Now he's used to them, but people that don't live with you sometimes never learn
HA! The egg fairy! That is awesome! How wonderful!
I have a friend that won't eat my eggs. She says they come out of a chickens butt. And where exactly does she think the grocery store eggs come from? The egg fairy?
We're getting our Organic grain from China! This seems so very wrong.I read an article about it. It has to do with Organic feed and feed prices. We ship regular grain to China and China ships Organic Grain back to the US! We do not grow enough Organic grain for the Demand so the cost is very high.
Organic Poultry and meat producers are not producing as much this year because of this.
Yea! It's raining! And my husband agreed to drive up to the show with me and our 2 year old. It'll be our first chicken show and I'm SUPER EXCITED!![]()

What a nice Hubby! Mine will be working so I will be there with my 81 year old Mother. She loves to go anywhere to get out of the house. I'm up the hill from you in Paradise
Blue eggs are my Grand Kids favorites too
And I agree....Organic from China seems wrong.....especially since they seem to have trouble with "fit for human consumption" amd "won't kill you pets"
