California - Northern

Getting cold out now and the Dele's have never been dark yet so they didnt go into the hen house part of the coop. We brought them back under the lamp in the garage they were all cold piled on each other on the ground. They enjoyed the time outside the rain over the next few days may result in them back in the box. I think Im going to add a regular light bulb in the hen house.

Thank you, Kaylish

Anyone know if eggs being entered at the fair all need to be from the same breed of hen? I'd love to enter a dozen, but I have a flock of mixed layers..
The eggs are judged on uniformity, size, shape, color at our fair. We have categories for brown, white and other, DD entered the quail eggs. The judge here cracks 1 to view interior quality and freshness. Marans have different criteria.

Make sure they are packed big end up in the carton.

So i had to move my polish hen innto my banyam coop (with the 5 week old chicks but shes in a divided part) i walked outside and she was covered in mud and sleeping out in the run while it was raining. i tbink she was the bottom of the pecking order

I am new to chickening as well. I have 6 buff orpingtons, and 1 blue orpington rooster boy in the brooder.
One of my 6 girls is turning into a boy quickly. ever since I got the chicks, I have been Chicken obsessed.
I am looking to add to the babies already. Wanting a few light sussex or chocolate orpington girls about 3-4 weeks old. They seem very difficult to locate. any ideas?

Hi!! When I first got chickens I had 5 Silkie chicks. Every single one was a boy. I guess it was a good excuse to get more.
