This is probably the wrong group to ask, because they just go get eggs to hatch for their broodies, but...... is it possible that a broodie will never come out of it if they don't hatch or have a baby chick to mother?  Is it possible that they could stay broodie indefinitely?

At that point you are worried sbout them starving and go drastic. Move her to a completly new space or give her chicks for a day or do and take them away.
I forgot I had a question for @chiqita. How heat tolerant are the Cots?

They raise them in hot places but recommend shade. I mevrr had an issue. But they are usually cold hardy to im still worried flowers lost some.

Nasco in Modesto is having a 4h event April 26th. Wish I was closer ! Great company for products and shipping and returns.
Please tell me more about this event! Thank you for posting this! I have never heard of eNasco. Next year, I am teaching a high school biology class for our homeschool co-op and I've been pricing specimens for dissection. eNasco has them for less than half the cost of Christian Book Distributors! This will be good news for our families because most of us are single income families where every dollar saved is important!

Is there any way to stop the chicks from flying up onto the waterer and pooping in it? The oldest chicks likes to use her wings and I constantly find her on top of the waterer, and consequently pooping in it.

If you can put a funnel upside down on it that might work

I put a big funnel on one of mine. On another one, I took a piece of aluminum foil and taped it to the side of the brooder so it hangs around the top of the waterer. In one of my outside brooders, I attached a piece of chicken wire to the wall above the waterer. It is a big enough piece that I can bend it around the top of the waterer. The bottom end is not attached and it is just right above the waterer so they don't jump up on it but it is still easy to pull the waterer out to fill. I'm always trying different things!

finally got a new incubator - & it's already full of eggs. It's so nice to have an incubator that I don't have to tinker with. It works ALL BY ITSELF!!

I have lost a pheasant & a chicken to broodiness. I have another one trying & I have been physically pulling her off.

I use Nasco in Modesto Debi. If you want me to pick things up for you & bring them at lunch I can do that.

I think I paid 204.00 out the door with the Turner and shipping thru Incubator warehouse.
They will answer questions
gqf doesn't seem to ever want to return phone calls for questions

Good point thanks.
You forgot the most important step. You must stand over it and stare into it several times a day, while thinking "aretheydoneyet?aretheydoneyet?aretheydoneyet?"

Haha that's true . I already have the yellow turner and separate quail rails. I'll look more closely. Are the air vents on the lid or the sides?

OK, so that's the trick, think it-not say it out loud. I don't think it would matter, my family already knows I'm crazy when it comes to feathered cuties.
