Not yet. Jason keeps hatching special eggs for other projects.

It does look like it might help with shipping. We were going to try one day of incubation but the article said 6 hours helped for storage.

Thanks for the article!

Lol my black penedesenca where shipped Monday afternoon so maybe they will be here tomorrow. Ok I promise after the crele hatch I will be ready. I am trying to get a few Empordanesa to throw in with the ones you send me.

now I can ship you some eggs if you want. I can put some in the Rcom Friday and ship Saturday if you have room

thanks !

lol! yeah, they look a bit odd in the IT dept...
nice. I may have to buy one for my office

Well I see this ad in craigslist for "Pink Egg Layers", I could not get in my car fast enough to buy some of his chicks. I left with 4 fluffy butts with the hope that I might see a pink egg in the nesting box in the near future!

Air cells like that are in shipped eggs--often the survivors of poor packing. There are usually broken eggs in the package too. they show up after the first week.

Eggs like that have to be set in cartons for the entire time. I have been able to hatch eggs like that but it is hard because the embryo was damaged from the shipping too.
What do you mean set in cartons the entire time? you mean no turning for the whole incubation?

I worked for a County too, but I was the Payroll Manager, so it was my office and everyone else in the room worked for me, lol. Tossed out finch chicks are the worst. My gouldians were terrible parents. Those three will make enough noise for a whole flock of chickens. I'm sorry the rest didn't make it though.
Oh I know I've got 14 that are grown. These are their offspring. They started laying in February instead of April. Now they have quit. They were only 7 months when they started laying.

I need to go back and correct that post. It will be hard to find though...

I should have said up right in the turner and then hatched upright in an egg flat at hatch. Yes, they need to be turned. Just the normal amount though. Turning for the first week needs to be very careful since shipped eggs are very fragile. There is a group on BYC that has a theory about resting shipped eggs in the incubator without turning--that it is not a good thing. I am trying to stay away from all of that though-- Their passion for it is something to see

The chicks need to be encouraged to pip up into the air space and they can be confused if the egg rolls and then pip into a vein at hatch.
