Please tell me more about the seed tubes. :)

Karen has these birdseed feeders made of a covered wire metal tube with a metal cap on one end. They work very well for separating eggs in the incubator & keeping the chicks contained once hatched. If I can find the camera, I'll take a photo in the morning. This was my 1st time trying them & I'm really pleased. My fat little Marans babies from Karen's beautifully dark eggs just about filled the tube though :) (I couldnt stand it and already put them in the brooder.)

The blood red moon lunar eclipse is supposed to start at 10:58 tonight and be total at 12:06 AM.  Mars is also the closest to earth that it will be for 26 months.  DH told me that it will be close to the moon and should look orange.  It is times like this that I wish that I had a telescope!

That is one of the few things on my "just because I want it" wish list. I love stargazing.

Quote: Than you :) Oh I most definitely will :p

Thank you again for bringing her too me. I think its resperatory illness or she has something stuck. You may want to check your other birds. I am giving her a treatment just in case. She doesn't do it all the time and I found little about it on BYC. She is doing well so far though. She loved the grass and herbs lol.

I have a really nice telescope Debi, one of those computerized models made by Meade. I have used it quite a bit over the years. It is fun to have. I had it all set up ...ready to take outside and hoped some of the overcast would clear. But I have to admit that I fell asleep on the couch waiting and missed it! I knew I should have set the alarm on my phone! :idunno was it really spectacular?

OK - so I am gigantic air-headed dork.
I completely forgot that the breeder was covering choc orp with a cuckoo roo for some of the eggs I got.
Hence the reason why the 5 chicks have bars on their wings. They'll be split to choc.

The one solid color is either black or choc but is definitely a pullet.
I'm really looking forward to see how they feather out.

So cute. Was at the feed store and the last few chicks they had from the latest delivery were going fast. Seriously thinking of grabbing some more this week to raise out for other family members and some friends looking to get chickens. This is the wednesday schedule
Partridge Rock Pullets
Barred Rock Pullets
Buff Orpingon Pullets
Production Red Pullets

I'm thinking I want some Barred Rocks too.(I think Im going chicken crazy)
Have to be sure to have room for more Dela's though. I guess I should wait though because I dont have any that are "grown" yet but the babies are so cute and fun.

We thought that it was very cool! We were in our PJs, sitting in the backyard, eating chocolate, and playing on our phone/kindle while we waited. It was a great time for my 12 yr old to ask questions about God and His awesome creation!

We watched it from the beginning until it was completely covered. I would have liked to watch the whole thing but it was past midnight by that time and we were tired. I took a few pics with my camera but the moon just looked like a small bright light in a black background. I'm going to look at pics on the NASA site today.

You can get better versions from @debs_flock of, I think, Barred Rocks and switch the Partridge Rocks for Silver Penciled Rocks.

Productions Reds are good for one year and then quickly drop off in egg laying.

I have UoA Blues, Partridge Penedesenca and UofA x Crele Penedesencas hatching.

I also got a couple of pictures of the Splash UofA and the Crele Pene x UofA Blue 4 week old chicks that are keeping my Cross Beak Delaware company.

Partridge Pene Chicks, look like 2 pullets, 1 cockerel and one that is likely a cockerel:

This us a 4 week old UofA blue Splash chick. This one decided to fly into the towel cupboard:

This is a UofA x Crele Pene 4 week old chick. There are peas in the comb which is associated with the blue egg shell gene. This one will be a nice OE cockerel. It had a nice white spot on it's head at hatch.

Cute chicks! Do the UofA chickens have pea combs? (I thought they were straight?) Also, if you can get a splash UofA, does that mean you can also get black?
