How long do you leave chicks in the hatcher once hatched to wait for the others? I don't want to shrink wrap any. Some have been hatched for 24 hours just about.

Take out the ones that are 24 hours old. I have had some die after 24 hours in the incubator.

Get a spray bottle with clean hot water in it and spritz a couple of times after you get the chicks out.

Do not worry about it if the humidity is over 75% though. I do this with every hatch and have had no shrink wrapped chicks this year.

looks like one of the older ones was bothered a bit too much my daughter separated them. I guess Ill have to build the nipple water bucket sooner for the Delawares so I can water everyone properly.

Oh goodness... this is so tempting. I'm so sorry you'll be moving, and giving up your hens. I have been looking for the breeds you have.. AND the mealworm colony.

Well are you going to be able to forego the enjoyment of the hatching your own chickens? On the other hand you won't have to wonder which ones are girls and which ones are boys!!!

I agree on the too low but too high for my penedesenca messes me up too. I like the 30-40% range the first 18 days

Since I am probably moving to hell, (Texas is not my idea of a good time), then I will be calling both you and Ron for the heat hardy breeds you are raising!!! The eggs that is.

Ok mario is going from here (sanjose) to sacramento tomorrow. Anyone looking for seremas or bresse? 3 breese and 4 serema. Serema are feathered enough I dont think you can inadvertently kill them but im only guessing sexes. Pm me if so.

The feed store in Rio Linda had a pile of these Serema chicks! THEY ARE SO CUTE!!!!

I would really like to have that conversation but believe me when I tell you that family politics dictate the decision not to. I totally agree with you though and thanks for you input.

It's hard when neighbors don't get along. And when you're family, there could be grudges for generations to come.
