Ok! Cause check this out!

My olandsk girls grow a tad faster than the boys at first. I def have NEVER watched growth like this. AND it means I have 5 girls and 1 boy. Unbelievable!!!!!!
Are all the girls that small or is that the smallest one? I have had a few hatch that are tiny and slower growing for the first several weeks. They may have hatched out of a smaller pullet egg. By 6-7 weeks, they seem to have caught up with the rest of the chicks except for the big boys!

They are all "about " the same. Close enough that I have to handle to see any difference . The white is apparently a girl also. And trinkets baby is the same size as the girls too -fingers crossed for a girl. I was wondering if the boy was going to give himself a heart attack growing like that!

We had to change leg bands way sooner than I expected:-0 looks like they will be taking over my fatty patty coop. It's the most spacious .lol

@PetRock Pita Pinta question.

PLEASE PLEASE TELL ME that the pita pinta boys grow faster than the girls. I have one baby that is OVER twice as big as the others!?!

Wow!! That is a big size difference. That's good news for me, because both of the Pinta's I got are smaller and look "girly", the little breese looks girly too. Score!!!

I do not but grew up raising and processing rabbits. After having done chickens, rabbits are looking pretty easy! No feathers to pluck! I think it would traumatize my children though. I don't know why I worry about that. I was traumatized and I'm fine. Really, I'm fine. Really. Twitch. Twitch. fine I said.
my daughter FFa project was rabbits. I'd much rather butcher and clean a rabbit. So much easier. I usually sell the roosters , purchase pork and beef from the market. I hate pulling feathers!!!!!
Used to have a boyfriend that did the feather pulling (hes gone) worked out well. I don't mind the rest of the process at all....
My kids would eat the rabbit but never could help process. had to trick my nieces into eating rabbit. they loved it....

I served rabbit once at a rabbit club potluck. It was a local rabbit show club, mostly all adults. One woman was vehement in her stance of not eating rabbit. I had taken the rabbits and ground them, then made lasagna.

She asked if she could take the leftover lasagna home. I said sure and sent it with her.

I never told any of them the meat in the dish was rabbit..................I'm bad

That is a great story!

My sister-in-law adopted an acquaintance's flock of 8 birds because her landlord said no more chickens (boo). One hen has consistently been laying double-yolked eggs. Well, Easter morning she produced a triple-yolked one. I got a text with the pic below. She said the egg was not really larger than a double-yolker. Cool.
I had a quail that layed those. Now its mostly doubles. Those were massive eggs however.
I did was not sure what the implications were .
For those of you who have hatched with a broody, can a large fowl hatch out bantam eggs, or will mama squash them?
It depends on how fluffy the lf. My marans were all fine with hatching 24 silkie eggs. But if they are fragile chicks you might have issues laterWith her not wanting to sit enough to keep smaller body mass chicks warm. More of a spring winter issue then a summer one.

You are evil and must be encouraged. So.. this auction that I won that was delayed is supposedly shipping monday. I dont know if its 50 eggs or 200 eggs.... hopefully I will know monday. Does anyone know how hard it is to recalibrate a brinsea ex? They supposedly want 250 to do it at the warehouse. Wondering if it is something mario could do.

I do not know but am interested. $250.00 is a bunch for something they say we should do every two years.

Let us know what you find out.
