 My brother-in-law had several hems killed that way.  They were sitting in the nest boxes still....just like they were trying to lay.  He thought they were still alive until he reached under the first one to collect eggs in the morning.    He could smell skunk in the coop.

go figure. we are getting heavy snow. not sticking here. just up the road it is . i thought winter was over

ended up with about 3/4" but its melting off even know its still snowing some

Duck eggs pipping today and it's only day 25! They were set on 3/31 in the afternoon. I went in to take them off the turner for lockdown and found about 5 or 6 of them already pipped! Also have 8 of 10 fertile BCM and Marans.EE mix eggs hatched and the last 2 pipped...

Last night my bulb for my heat lamp went out, I walked in and the bulb was cool meaning it had been out a while. All 5 baby Wyandotte's were underneath my month+ old Cream Legbar's wings because they were so cold, poor babies. Of course it happened at night when the feed store was closed, so I put a heater in my room to get them through the night. Woke up sick, had to ask my mom to go buy a new bulb for me.
Integrating the youngsters to the main flock by putting them in a wire dog crate in the run, came out to find both Buff Polish had bloody tails. Don't know how it happened, I think the crazy Marans chicks may have picked at them. Sprayed them with Blue Kote and put them back into their brooded. Poor babies!
Been a crazy couple days for chickens. I did sell one of my hens to a nice family so now I can get another breed I've been wanting
