Can you post a picture of it? Some of my hens have black combs, so maybe it's normal?

He is almost dead, not normal :(

That does not look good and it looks like he's mouth breathing a little. I can see why you thought his comb was black, but the majority of it looks purple to me, which would make me think he's not getting enough oxygen. So many things can cause this and his best chance at this point would be to see a vet, but I know that's not realistic for most people and there's a very good chance that the drive there would send him over the edge.

I check both coops, and the poop isn't abnormal.... what I do find abnormal is the amount of sick chickens that have been posted about today.. :/ I mean, what's up with that?

The second chick just died. It was acting zombie-like, then I watched it spasm and die. I really don't understand this. I feed my chicks medicated feed (which is supposed to help), they always have clean water, and have lots of space to roam.

Sorry for your loss... Are you sure the poops are normal? I ask because many people have seen something called the "poop page" which shows many poops as "normal", but I can assure you that they are not.

Quote: I'm not on my comp. so I can't post photos now, but I'll try to soon.

I'm judging by what I've seen. I always check their poops, because it's a huge indicator of how they are feeling, and so far I haven't seen anything that would raise a red flag. Just their normal droppings..

. How old is he? I was thinking some form of heart failure, but I looked it up, and it could be a bunch of things. His poor eyes look swollen too.

Hmm.... I checked my sick boy out a little more closely. His crop is FULL. Way too full for the stuff that I have given him. It's grainy too; it feels like chicken feed. Is it possible that he has an impacted crop? Do his symptoms match?

I'm going to go googling.
I've had 2 hens with an impacted crop. I didn't catch the first one in time, and she died. I was going to attempt crop surgery for her, but she died right when I was bringing her in to start. The second one I caught early. I separated her (that way I could keep a better eye on her, and what she was -eating - drinking- pooping), and gave her water and did crop massage. She must had "worked out" whatever was stuck in there, and her crop was back to normal - empty- in a little over 2 days. I let her back out with the other girls, and she has been fine since. I would separate him for a bit without food so you can see if his crop empties. Does he feel skinny? Does he smell funky?
