So sorry for your loss. When they don't tell us what's wrong until so late it's rough. You did all you could in the short time he gave you.

I have never had them here ( at least noticeable) but this year they just hit like wildfire.
One of my Empordanesa roosters has them bad. was acting sick and could not figure it out
looked at him real good yesterday and he has it bad.

I just got in from spraying the runs as best I could.
I sprayed hm and the Crele rooster with the gimp real good with permethrin as he sits a lot and saw a few on him.
Hope the spraying works. I am going to soak him in warm Vinegar water Thursday or friday. Also spray the coops well Saturday after I clean them out and spray the runs again in 10 days.
Hopefully that will help.

I need to get some frontline as well.
Does everyone use 2 drops from the small weight dogs?

Generally I only have to use DE and occasional run spray but this is the worst I have seen

I've a bunch of chicks that have grown out and (unless the buyers back out) will be selling in the next week. Thinking I should invest in a bigger incubator because I'm gathering almost a dozen eggs a day for hatching.

I was looking at getting the incubator on CL but it had already sold.

They are telling me that the hatcher can be outfitted with an automatic turning unit and used as an incubator. Have any of you seen this done? I don't need a hatcher. I need an incubator. Retrofitting is a great idea as it could save money but I'd like to know for sure that it can be done.

Jason may be correct. I read a thread today where the comb going dark was caused by Mites and or Lice.

The only difference should have been no turner. Hatching is the last 3 days. Just watch the turner and make sure it is not shaky. Or crazy vibrating. Unless it is some weird thing g I don't know!
