Ok this is getting better! He emailed me again with a different name and number but the same email.

I see a short story in my future!

Also kim! I forgot to say earlier I am so excited about your first on your own hatch. Its so exciting and scary!

(Omg the guy just called me again twice! There is another page! (

NOOOO

that's FOR Jason, not FROM Jason. He had run out of incubator space and we live close by each other.

It's the best of both worlds, when the hatch is complete I just hand off the chicks. I got to watch them develop, hatch and see/feel their new fuzzy sweetness, then no brooders to clean and heat!
go chicks, they have 20 newly hatched friends waiting

Hey!!! You mean that won't make my numbers go down?

Gee, math is hard!

XXX
lol

Clearly a no-lifer.

@capayvalleychick yes I am so excited and I laughed when you said that you wanted to do things "right" I have those tendencies and I have a daughter with exactly what you describe :)

And in other events...we worked on and almost finished our little coop today.  We moved it into the pen and as a result had to move the temp things that were in there.  unearthed a nest of baby mice.  I couldn't look but I can't lie, I called the flock in to have at it.  We DO NOT need more mice and the birds need animal protein..right??

The first time i discovered a nest of pinkies, i set them down on top of a short bucket meaning to save them for my nephew who had a snake. I turn my back on them to continue cleaning and not 30 seconds later, all the girls were running aroung making "i have a goodie!" noises. I look to see what they are playing tug-of-war with, and ...uh... eww (at first) then cool! I can't stand wild rodents and these egg-makers will happily eat them?!? I thought the earwig, tick, & tomato hornworm decimation was the best but that topped it. Yay!

Ay yi yi! Tell him a scary story like "I'm sorry, my husband just got out of prison. He was away for a loooong time. So this weekend won't work. I'll call you on any other hatches, we'll be keeping these"
I know I wouldn't call you anymore, lol

My dog is REALLY good at helping me with gophers. We have a system: she won't leave a hole alone if it's like right there. I get the hose, flood it out. Then she grabs it and kills it. Due to parasites I take it from her and give her some turkey instead. I have two holes in my coop run.
One was a gopher and the other a mouse. I didn't have her help with he mouse and it got away. Learned my lesson

IF I get day-old chicks, shipped, can I brood them in a pen inside the coop, or do they need to be brooded elsewhere? If I can't brood them in the coop, I'll just have to wait for someone to get broody if I want fluffy butts *sigh*

.

I can't wait to meet you all at Karens on the 18th. I had set 24 eggs to bring but the hatch has been heartbreaking. Only 4 have hatched. Tomorrow is day 25, I still have movement but not much hope. I cantwait to see what you all bring so I can take home some BYCer chicks.

Take care and see you soon.
