EEEKK!! Utter cuteness!!
She keeps all her chickens by color in separate pens so you would get white, blue, black and splash colored chicks.Time for my daily question(s)!
I'm looking at hatching eggs now that I'm getting an incubator. I already have my first hatch planned(1 dozen Silver Penciled Rocks & 1 dozen TJ's eggs) but it's fun to think of what kind of eggs I could get shipped to me, even if it does mean a lower hatch rate.
So my question is, what color are the Silkies that would hatch from these eggs? Read the description. It confuses me...maybe I'm just stupid.![]()

I suppose when I sign her up for something (vet, training, etc.), I should spell it Kaylee, but it is her registered name. Anyone that looks at it stares a minute, then stutters a bit, then stumbles over..........uhhhhhhh.......... "Seal-da"?
Then I have to explain the Celtic meaning and they always end up gushing over what a cool name it is.
Lol... it sounds like an addicts' excuse, but honestly a good 70% of the chicks I am growing out are freezer-bound, and about 25% more are being grown out for family members who are taking them when they're ready to overnight in coops, so I haven't added all that much to my flock this year. I've got 45 chicks coming from Murray McMurray to my house the first week of June, but only three of those are mine (or four if my dad gets plenty of hens in his straight-run Dorkings).Time to use some chicken math, eh?![]()
Yeah, the vet's office struggles with it. One of the techs calls her Salad.I suppose when I sign her up for something (vet, training, etc.), I should spell it Kaylee, but it is her registered name. Chicken math...you're doing it wrong. I didn't think it was possible, but yes, you're doing it wrong. You need to use chicken math to justify getting MORE chickens!!!![]()
unactivated is what I have heardWhen washing eggs prior to incubation, does one use unactivated Oxine or do you use the citric acid as well?
Gaah! @Coopcommander did not post this. I did - @CackleJoy Sigh. I'm his mom and should pay more attention! PS. Nolan is the great coopcommander
We love Celtic names. With a surname like McCombs we've had license to splurge a bit. The children's 1st names are pretty normal but we used traditional spelling on all the middle ones. With our last child I was told that we had saddled them with unwanted names. How rude. She was single and had no children so all of her opinions are unchallenged. (I have found that parenting is a most humbling experience).![]()
So I must share:
Nolan (means Noble, also Great Grma surname) Creag (p. Creeag, means rock)
Elsie (Scottish diminutive of Elisabeth, hit 3 of 4 great grandma's in one name, means God is my helper) Aine (p. Onya, means Joy, not after the singer, my middle name is Joy)
Aislinn (p. Ayezlyn, means vision) Aoibh (p. Eve, means beauty)
Maive (p. Mayvie, means cause of great joy) Sinead (p. Shuhnade, means God is gracious and is a very cool version of Jane).
We think names should be worthy of living up to and hope that our children do so with theirs.
