California - Northern

Almost 9 weeks old, got her on the 29th of March at about a week old.
2 of my 5 weeks olds are already getting coppery necks and shoulders and trying to crow. I'm voting pullet until proven otherwise.

Sad news.
I just learned chicken seamen can not be frozen liquid nitrogen or no. This is not from a super reliable source but has still crushed my dreams.

i've had boys of the same breed develop combs/wattles at different paces, but none of my marans girls have ever had any redness around their faces til much older than 9 weeks... so i'm afraid i'm with chiqita in guessing boy.

What is the dark spot in this egg? It moves a bit but looks way too big and dark to be the yolk?

I was just going though a bunch of chicken eggs from nests and found two the look like this. With my two it's definetly the yolk, and it will float from top to bottom as I rotate the egg. Will take pictures later.

At the egg farmers place, Jeremy is feeding them an Organic Non soy non corn feed. Somewhere I read that soy can hurt fertility.

You had a great hatch!
Sure hope that's not true, 'cause my peafowl eat a crumble that has soybean meal listed as the first ingredient.
