Congrats on the graduation...sorry it had to be at the same time as all this stress...Just had my graduation party, and my best friend is here visiting from Texas. It was so nice to get my mind off of my chickens for a couple hours, I've been so worried and constantly in tears over the thought of them possibly having mg. I take Splash in to be tested on Monday. I'm not treating her until then. The vet quoted me at $80 for shipping the blood sample overnight to the lab, but FedEx quoted me at around $30 for a 3 pound package. On one hand, if I ship the blood sample myself I save $50...but I could possibly mess up shipping it and then I've wasted all that time and money for the office visit/exam at the vet & shipping costs. Or I could have the vet do ship it, someone who's very experienced shipping blood samples, esp. ones that need to be kept cold, but that's also an extra $50. I don't like to waste money but with the first option there is definite room for error and I'm not sure that I want to risk that. Not sure what I'll do at this point. This has all been so stressful, I swear I'm nearly in tears every time I think about it. I want to thank everyone for helping me with this, and putting up with all my questions. Having people that I trust there to help&support me makes it so much easier.
When I lived in San Jose we considered that Northern Ca...so I would say yes...Sacramento is Northern CAI'm in Sacramento. Isn't that North?
Quote: LOL!! My daught claims "Mommy brain" and her youngest is 4 1/2.
Quote: I think they molt on their own schedule. Mine all molted in the early part of the year, but I have one red sexlink molting now. She shakes and feathres go everywhere!

I need to find pictures of all of them...I have a whole bunch of different colors..Chiquita, thanks for telling the quail to wait until I was home to start hatching! I noticed pips and zipping but the first one held off until I got to pee. 6 out so far, I wasn't expecting them until tomorrow.
Do tuxedo start out looking like tuxedos?

It is amazing what can make ourselves so when wed know the lives/health of our loved ones is at stake!I'm so proud of myself! I have given all but two of my chickens shots two days in a row now. I didn't know if I'd be able to do it because I'm super wimpy about this kind of stuff(one reason I could never be a nurse like my mom!) but I feel like a pro giving my hens shots![]()
Yeah, but most of the posts from the past few days have been people looking for stuff or trying to rehome roosters. I'm going to keep an eye out for people posting breeds I want to add in to the flock. Are you on the 530 Poultry FB pages? Lot of folks with hatching eggs on there...

can't wait to see it. I too have a busy day.
can't wait to see it. I too have a busy day.
meeting someone at 9:40 with a silver crele oe rooster and a black penedesenca rooster.
Then Deb at 10 with eggs and then my parents at 11 to get my kids.
back up here where I need to let the youngsters out in the big run.
then move the 30 from the brooder to the grow out pen. oh then move the 14 in the big fish tank to the brooder ( crele penedesenca , brown red ameraucana , oe's and 2 splash am's , 3 partridge penedesenca ).
Then the rest of my older crele breeder hens go to a friends .
i will then move 2 that where in with the other crele rooster along with 2 silver ameraucana into my other crele rooster run.
This will give me plenty of space for the youngsters and plenty of chickens moving forward
yes I have so many chicks I am able to restart my empordanesa flock thanks to so many chicks. You have a very busy day!
Good job on re organizing, re homing and re integrating!
