Hi I did some catching up but was behind 300+ posts and skipped to here.
In my updates
My Speckled Sussex has hatched out 3 of her 4 eggs. She seems convinced that the other one is still good. I watched her tuck it back under herself...i did add an egg nearly 24 hours after I gave her the clutch so maybe this is it. The chicks are mixed...My Amelia is the mom of two and a Dorking the mom of another. Dad Is either NH or Del but they are sure cute. Hope there is a girl or two in there somewhere.
I have an Australorp on Day 10 with papa brooders AM/EE BBS eggs...just 5 left of the 9 I set...hoping for a blue girl and/or a splash girl
And remember my silkie broody with 2 dozen eggs that i rescued a few months back? Well she is sitting on 6 mixed eggs now in a broody box in the broody pen...I feel like she will be a great mommy now that she is given a reasonable egg/silkie ratio.
Ron is hatching eggs for me from a Chooks Chick project bird from that I have wanted for over a year
And it looks like I may be getting some Birchen Marans from Laura and SPR...another dream bird...from Deb so life is good in the chicken acquisition dept.
@PetRock I hope I am still on your hatching egg list. I will be giving your eggs to a proven broody so not sure when one of mine will decide to go for round 2. Maybe not until fall but at some point!
To all of you Nor Cal peeps:
Hope all your hatches are successful and all of your chicks are pullets...hope every thing that looks like illness turns out to be nothing and I hope you enjoy your birds today! Be well and stay cool! Thanks for being a great source for chickens and information about them!!!
