Oh my......didn't read everything on there. I have to say though....the paperwork that cam with my Genesis said 80% and I think the "Hatch Calculator" that Ron has suggested using to determine hatch dates says 80% too. I think that is even too high.

Way too high for me................
For those of you that feed eggs back to the chickens how many eggs per chicken do you prepare.

As many as they will eat. I scramble mine & chop them for the smallest chicks. I sometimes do a lot extra & freeze them in zip lock sandwich bags them use them as needed.
I usually cook about ten dozen at a time.........but that's me

I break them into a 13x9 pan and bake them for 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Let them cook and cut them into squares. Then I toss 1-3 squares per pen depending on how many birds are in the pen and their size.

Since I cook so many eggs at a time, I find it's the quickest. Each pan holds around 5 dozen eggs.

I have had people stroll through the kitchen and think the squares look tasty, not knowing it's chicken feed. I am not careful with bits of shell or anything that might fall off a dirty egg

That sounds great Deb...........I will do that now before it gets too hot. I have some great big Portuguese Sopas pans from the fiesta I can use for a pot load of eggs at once.I can either chop some of the squares to give to the little chicks or save these for just feeding the big chickens.

They are counting the days!

Yes, 65 to 70% is perfect, usually.
That's still too high for me. Bev Davis suggested that & I tried that in the beginning with poor results & had to adjust it. I find that what I use in the Ova 190 & the Octagon 20 with good results is different though. I have learned by trial & error for each incubator. This is just me figuring it out as I go though. The only time I get condensation is at hatch sometimes & then I open a vent.

Heat today was brutal for the birds. I threw a couple of ice bags on the ground and a couple of them stood and lay down on them. You know its hot when the ice bag melts and the ground is dry

Supposed to be hotter tomorrow. Im thinking I may try my bucket air conditioner inside the coop tomorrow. The extra protection from the sun and the cool air may help them.
Ill be sure to put water in the coop.
Watermelon has been a saving grace for them. But now Im out.
Early morning run to the store I think.
My A/C went out in my car & the first guy I took it too to have repaired can't fix it & I don't trust the dealership here in town so while I debate what to do I bought one of those little fans at Tractor Supply for $9.99 & was thinking of trying the 5 gallon bucket thing with it. It has a cord that plugs into your cigarette lighter in your car on it. .....................LOL. I actually bought it to make a bucket cooler for outside & we were just going to rewire it to a regular plus. I have regular big box fans for the chickens & misters.

Chris the Dels went into lockdown. I took the turner out of the genesis (the chicks get stuck in between & under the rails). I put the eats in egg cartons except for the Dels. O put them in cages because I was afraid I couldn't tell them from the Pita Pintas at hatch. No pips on the CLB yet but I set them late in the day. I will check them this afternoon when I get home from the garden club meeting. I have a busy day.

I just went to look at the eggs in my bator, knowing that they wouldn't have hatched yet because they're not due until the 11th...forgetting bantams often hatch early....you can imagine my surprise when I saw a newly hatched little baby in there!!! EEP!! My first ever hatch! It looks great, it's just tired and still wet so it must have JUST hatched. My first ever baby to hatch is a little Black Tail White Japanese Bantam.

Quote: Agree.

Labratory Findings/Diagnosis
Negative for antibody to Mycoplasma gallisepticum.

So this means my hens do NOT have MG, right? I'm so happy I could cry...
That is great news, but I'd still want to know what is making them sick before selling birds to anyone else.

Congrats!

Regarding my birds, considering the fact that Splash recovered in just a few days without any medication and their symptoms don't match any other chronic diseases that I've researched, I think it must have just been a cold/respiratory infection.

I thin that is what mine have had. Just abut eveyone on the 530 Poulty FB page has been reporting chicken colds pver the last month or two
