Is your due date July 4?
You will need to pick an Independence day baby name!

I have a fourth of July Hatch going!

Sadly they are not for me.....But I do have chicks for me hatching on the 20th!
If you like the idea of Independence day baby names I have a few suggestions

What color is my Olive Egger? Blue, or black? I was thinking black but I'm not sure...The lady who I bought it from says it's a cross between Marans and "Americans"(EE's most likely) Also, do you think it will keep the white face as it grows up?
What great pics! So cute - both chick & dog. :-)

Happy Father's Day to all you guys out there. What a privilege................

Okay I am thoroughly confused. I already was with this last hatch that took 5 days. I left the Brinsea as is with the CLB eggs still end when I had taken all hatched chicks out. As I said before the eggs I got were older eggs given to me from where Chris bought his. I had read that older eggs can take longer. This morning 3 more of my older eggs hatched & I had already had 2 hatch a few days ago that were late hatchers. These eggs were set at 2 p.m. the day after the party so that makes it May 19th. They were due on the 9th...................what an experience this has been. I didn't save one that was shrink wrapped but one was in there running around & the other was still wet but alive so I left her in there.........go figure?????????

I have had very long hatches. If a Breed hatches on day 20 and is added to a breed that hatches on day 21 that can lengthen the hatch. The UofA Blues can take three days to hatch. If I mix them with Early hatchers like EEs, They can easily take 5 days for all of them to hatch. Add in age....

It is so frustrating and stressful for a hatch to go that long. I do not even want to talk about the condition of the incubator....that many days of chick and egg "stuff" at 99.5 degrees.....

The white face is common on a lot of chicks. As an example, this is a Lakenvelder chick. as you know they mature to being a white bird with a black face and tail.

Is it too early to tell if this Tolbunt Polish is frizzled? Would these little feathers that are coming it be curled if she was a frizzle?

It looks like it might be a frizzle. You can usually tell by the time they are 10 days old. The wing feathers will turn out a bit instead of lying flat to the body. I just sold a little frizzled tolbunt chick yesterday. It was very obvious and 14 days old.

Yep.............I just cleaned out the Hovabator that was due days after the Brinsea. The CLB are in the Brinsea & in egg cartons so clean up is much easier. It is plastic instead of Styrofoam & the egg carton cover the entire floor of it. I need more of these..............Now just to figure out how to let loose of that much money.......LOL

Thanks!! It would be fun if the OE kept the white face but I won't expect it. :)

I won't sell the bird as either or until at least 10 days, then. I don't want to say it's a smooth or a frizzle and end up having sold it as the wrong thing.
