California - Northern

I do believe that was a guess of her breed but something was off about her.

I am sorry you lost her!

Laying problems are rough.

I candled today and am very happy about the fertility of the Pita Pintas!

All of my carrying them back and forth is paying off. The Cream Legbars x Crele Penes are doing great too. I can't tell about the fertility of the Partridge Penedesencas but I really need to get a couple more pullets out of them this year.

The shipped eggs are doing very well too. You just never know about shipped eggs.

If anyone local is interested in an assortment of Pita Pinta, OEs and Partridge Pene eggs send me a PM. It is going to be too hot to ship this weekend so they need to be picked up.

That's good news! If I lived closer to you, I would jump at the chance for those eggs! Of course, I don't really need the Pita Pintas!

Okay so i was able to get some "b50" tablets from the lady i work for (they are b12 with other stuff mixed in.) and i broke them into quarters and mixed with my little chicks water how long should it take till i see improvement? i was told what is happening is a b12 defiency not vitamin e

Anyone do fermented feed? Especially for chicks?
Heard lots of great things but I remember reading last year on a thread someone's chicks dying and they thought the ff may have been moldy. I don't rember the details but heard people say to not do ff for chicks. Any thoughts? Trying to make the best decision
I do FF for all my birds except the quail. Never had a problem with the chicks eating it. Never had any get sick. It is really hard to get FF to mold. There will sometimes be a layer of yeast on the surface that some may interpret as mold but it is not. The yeast just gets stirred into the mix and ferments too.

I keep mine at a much drier consistancy.....about 1/2 way between peanut butter and cookie dough. I only have water above the surface when I first ,ix it. I fill it to about 1" above the feed and then is get sucked into it as it swells.
Quote: MIne is just crumbles, a little scratch and BOSS. I add 10 cups of crumbles, 2 cups of scratch and 1 cup of BOSS. I add water as I mix to about 1 ' above the feed. Stir a little more and then stop. I added ACV only for the strtt of my first batch and then used the scoby to keep it going (about a year now). It gets puffy and light in between stirring. Mine looks like this when it is ready to feed:

The Article I posted for you said there are three causes for wry neck:

1. vitamin deficiency
2. bacterial or other infection
3. brain injury

Silkies are prone to brain injuries because they often to not have bone completely covering the brain so it is exposed.

The vitamins will help those that need vitamins. Bacteria would need anti biotocs. Brain injury is treated with anti inflammatory medicine like aspirin or prednisone.

It can take a week for the vitamin to work. If it is a brain injury, they the chick may never completely recover.

How is the chick doing?

Oh, I played with one of those on the deck in Lake Tahoe for a long time until it got fed up and flew away.
