Ok @PetRock my litte Pitas are growing up fast. (3 weeks already where did the time go).
I need pics but one of them holds their tail very upright and so do the CLB boys for the most part. Trying to get and idea if I have a boy or not in those cute Pita Pintas..

Its really cute the CLB crests are starting to form just the little bit of tuft at the moment but its happening. (pretty sure its 3 boys now)
The comb development on the Boys is pretty impressive (The Del isnt keeping pace but then again Dels do different things)

They are all so cute I could raise chicks anytime.

The bigguns out side are very funny. They are getting very vocal lately with various strange noises they have never made before.

Eep! Today is day 20 and I have one egg externally pipped, and two more eggs are moving. This is so exciting...I'm going to have my nose glued to the incubator for the rest of the next two days. One of the wiggling eggs is a Trader Joe's eggs so that's very exciting, considering the fact that 0 out of 4 developing hatched last time. I'm getting my hopes up. Maybe I shouldn't, but I can't help it!
Temp is at 99.5 and humidity has stabilized at 66%
14 out of 18 EE eggs made it to lockdown. If they all hatch that's a ~78% hatch rate for them! And 13 out of 21 Trader Joe's eggs made it to lockdown, if they all hatch that will be a ~62% hatch rate! That's amazing for old store-bought eggs. I don't expect them all to hatch, though, just because of how it went last time.
I heard peeping when I was looking in the incubator, and my dog confirmed what I was thinking: she heard the peeping and immediately looked directly at the incubator and started herding it. The muffled peeping was coming from an egg!

I think the people I've talked to were right - the excitement of hatching never wears off, does it?
One question. There is a little red plug in the top of the incubator(Genesis 1588), I left it in last hatch and everything went fine. Should I take it out, though? What's it for?
Time flies... this is your second batch of eggs, right?

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who emailed about the Wheaten/ BCM chicks.

It is seeming they will have a very nice home to go to shortly.

There is a huge fire raging in our Napa County area, about 1 mile away from us--you may have seen it on the news.
Many of the locals have already been evacuated. It is very smoky/ hazy this morning, and there have been helicopters flying low and overhead. We have eggs in the incubator, brooders full of chicks, and juvies of all ages right now. (Working on BCM F1 stock.) Hopefully, the wind doesn't change direction, and come our way.
Hope they get it under control quickly.

Well I found one of my CLB boys perching on the edge of the box 3 times yesterday. He was just as happy as could be. He is also the one that seems to have overcome the flightiness the fastest. It was really funny to see yesterday. As I reached into the box everyone but he and the Delaware ran for the corner they actually ran up to my hand. We are starting to get there. It seems as the feathers start really coming in and they spend more time awake they get more interactive.
One of my CLB was the first out of the box as well; they seem to be good flyers.

Hey BCollie were these eggs fro papa brooder's BBS AM/EE pen? I hatched 3 from him and if I don't get a girl I may be interested if you have a blue or splash pullet.

Good Luck with the hatch!

Had to finally put the lid on the brooder. Reggie kept on insisting that he wanted to sit on the top of the box and lord his skill over the rest of the flock. Which was not terribly well received by his flock mates. Oddly enough Snowball (the Delaware) has even less chance of escaping the box though she has been eying and trying a lot. (now for the obligatory pun) The don't have Snowballs chance of escaping now.
