It can be so hard to see wounds on them because of all the feathers. I sure hope the rest will be OK. Have you tried trapping whatever it is?
It is a lot fun hatching, but I am getting worn out from it. I have the last batch of BLRW in the incubator and will give them to my broody in a few days if she sticks...then I am done for the year.
2 of the jubilee eggs did not develop...one developed and internally pipped, but did not hatch..
The last 2 Marans I though I heard pecking in last night were silent this morning. I opened the big end and they were dead with no internal pip. I must have been hearing things because there was still a lot of unabsorbed yolk in both.
But I have 3 healthy chicks and 2 quail babies, so I am very happy! I am quite enamoured with the showgirl.....
Oh...and did I tell you I gor my first eggs from the first batch of quail eggs you sent me? I also got a scalped A&M.....but they have been separated from the pharohs ans tuxes and doing well. I think the white coloring maked a good target. I thought that one might have lost an eye in the attck, but now that the swelling has gone down the eye looks fine. I am finishing up a breeder cage rack (just need to put wire on the 2 doors (ran out and need to buy more) and then they wll all have thier own quarters.
