The yellow chick I would guess is a Bresse but @chiqita should confirm.@Chiquita ...here are the pictures of the 3 chicks that have hatched (There are still 2 Marans eggs that I hear tapping in...today is day 22) This first one is the one I'm not sure of the breed on. No, not for sure, but I suspect an opossum. We've had problems with them in the past, but usually just trying to break into animal feed or harassing the cat lady's cats next door. When she gets really bad about leaving out dishes of cat food the little gray monsters start showing up again. I noticed a little Buff Orpington from the same pen looking a little listless and looked her over very well. She had a small wound I didn't see last night, right below her ear. I hit it with Blu Kote, but it was already dry and scabbing a bit. I'm assuming it happened around the same time and I missed it. I looked very closely at all the other birds and didn't see any signs of any other wounds.Aww...I'm so sorry.....You are doing the right thing with such a severe injury. Have you been able to figure out what did it?
Your chicks are soooo cute!! I wish I could start hatching babies, but I am still working on research and seeing how my GLW's turn out before I start. From the comb and red leakage on the shoulders, you have a male.Here's the ugly/cuteness I was referring to earlier - this is one with no "bow-tie" (patch of fluff just above crop):

Oh...and did I tell you I gor my first eggs from the first batch of quail eggs you sent me? I also got a scalped A&M.....but they have been separated from the pharohs ans tuxes and doing well. I think the white coloring maked a good target. I thought that one might have lost an eye in the attck, but now that the swelling has gone down the eye looks fine. I am finishing up a breeder cage rack (just need to put wire on the 2 doors (ran out and need to buy more) and then they wll all have thier own quarters.
It can be so hard to see wounds on them because of all the feathers. I sure hope the rest will be OK. Have you tried trapping whatever it is?
It is a lot fun hatching, but I am getting worn out from it. I have the last batch of BLRW in the incubator and will give them to my broody in a few days if she sticks...then I am done for the year.

I opened the big end and they were dead with no internal pip. I must have been hearing things because there was still a lot of unabsorbed yolk in both.
