My red decided the broody Orpington's nest box was the one and only suitable nest box, and the Orpington decided today was the day she would stop sharing. The ensuing scuffle broke one of the developing eggs. Not the best chicken week for me.
*knock on wood* this is supposed to be the only triple digit day for my birds this week, only upper 90s the rest of it.
It's really hot here...109 in the shade. Haven't checked the chickens, but they were ok at 103 Fahrenheit earlier today when I turned the misters on.
My dogs were miserable even in our cooler garage ( they like the cooler concrete floor). So, I brought them inside. They are loving it even though we don't have AC until 7 PM due to conserving power. It's a cool 85 inside right now. I think we will go jump in the pool soon.
Not the best chicken week for me.
. Of the Goldens, I have 2 roos and 4 hens, but one of the roos is the one that has a slipped hock and will go to the freezer. I have 5 tuxedos, but so far only 1 has revealed himself. I have 4 all together that have been scalped to some degree. 3 of them I didn't even notice until I moved them. The wounds blended into the head coloring. Those are now separated. @chiqita do you know if they will leave each other alone if they are all roos together with no hens?
