Here's the first 4 silkies peepers (blues, I think - eggs marked "SB"):

2 more have hatched ("SR" & "zig": 3 more to go) & an orp has pipped!

Still havent been able to find any poly vi but i have sav a chick im giving him atm. hes two days old and he others are fine but he acrs like his bones are pointed to the side rather then straight

Can you post a pic? I once thought I had spraddle leg, but it turned into wry neck.
Wasn't in full twisting mode, so stood funny.
Next day it was obvious wry neck.
Like Ron said about the vitamin without iron.
Chiqita likes nutri drench best for wry neck(which may be your case).
I had it once. I have poly vi sol . Saw a big difference once I added vitamin e and b(read about it in the internet).
Perhaps that's why nutri drench is a fav of chiqita. I think it has something poly vi sol is missing.
Good news is wry neck is usually super easy to treat if caught early and this young

Woo Hoo!!! I only have 6 mature hens (one is raising chicks), but several pullets reaching POL. 2 have just started but are pretty sporadic. 3 more should be starting soon. Snd thern there are all the free loaders for now. The Austra White type trio, the 4 remaining meat bird mixes 2 of which look like ameraucanas (a black and a barred), the Bresse and the frizzled show Girl and the 5 little ones under the broody.

Mine are molting so eggs are down.

I have several that look like they are starting to molt. It sure seems early this year. I've had them molt in Nov and Dec but never had them start in Aug. I also have my juvies going through their final juvenile molt. Feathers, feathers everywhere!!!

My little ones are not ready to lay yet. It is an odd year for weather.

It is a good time to consider worming them.

Hi all! @ronott1 I am close to 500 posts behind so I am going to hop in and share pics of the chicks you hatched for me. Plus for @lualshannon here is Ike. Who has been brilliantly tolerant of the young cockerels. So in the foreground L to R is my PP pullet, the enormous Konza I have named Magnus and Reese their Konza hatchmate. They hatched on 7/2. In the back is one of my wacky Red Star cockerels. He and his two brothers will be in the freezer within the week. Ike is a honey and I am looking forward to the two NH pullets I will be bringing home for him in a few weeks.


Daphne: I have to get a distance away from her to take a picture b/c if I get too close she is on me. Far and away the most interactive chick I have had. Also looking forward to getting more like her in the spring

Magnus is probably my keeper. He started out big and that is what I would want to pass on to his offspring. I hope that I can get Konza eggs from Arielle in the spring. The Konza rooster would be in with my laying flock. Hoping for faster maturing larger barnyard mixes for the table from this guy


Renee was going for many qualities with the Konza one being a bird that would be less visible to ariel predators. Reese has the camo thing down.



Here are all three plus the little PP boy I lost. Ron hatched em all. The one I lost is the snowy white one in the back then Reese, Magnus and Daphne.
Check out the width of Magnus' stance. He is still a wide body!
