Do you keep your pigeons in the same area as your chickens?

I know someone who keeps both but they are separated. THe chickens free range the back yard but cannot access the pigeon houses or feed.

I think there are some issues with diseases that one or the other can pass to the other even if neither are really suceptable to them on their own

The parlor rollers are non-flighted birds. The chickens would kill them quickly. The second pair Mariah got are flighted pigeons but both pairs are away from the chickens on our covered deck, nice morning sun and shade when it starts to get hot up here. Not to many critters come up on the deck to harass them either.

The quail are closer to the chickens, they are about 25 feet apart but still far enough to feel comfortable that not much is being shared.

Well, I now have 4 just-laid eggs to put under Frieda tonight (one was still warm!) More light - brown eggs in our future...

So glad you are getting a few of your "Must Have" breeds. Lakenvelders are pretty but to much white for where I live. If Jeff's orps lay like my bantams you will have plenty of eggs to share.
Golden Lakenvelders are not white. (not my picture)

Anyone here have an egg skelter?
Yep, love it!

Bad fire my way. Schools are going to be closed near us in Pollock Pines.
I live 2 miles from Sly Park / Jenkinson Reservoir
here were a few pics I got from the Dam and far side of the lake

Scary! Hope it stays away from you...

I have wanted one but they are kind pricey...

Anyone here have an egg skelter?

I have one I got from the raffle at Karen's (@sewandgrow ) party this year!

I have bantam hens, so their eggs don't roll that well along it all the time. But it's a lot easier to keep track of which ones are older, and it's pretty on the counter with the green and brown/pink eggs. :)

There was an egg mishap recently, where our hanging basket with a few sugar pie pumpkins decided to tip over and spill its contents directly into the skelter... that was a bit of a mess. But the girls had a nice scrambled egg treat...
