California - Northern

Hey feather friends! I make feather headdresses (like the one in my profile picture and below) and brooches made from Collected feathers. I'm looking for people who have collections of feathers that they don't know what to do with. Mail me your clean feathers and I will use half to create a unique fascinators, headband, wedding garland, brooch, hairpin, or earrings. The other half is your payment for this unique custom creation and I will only ask you to pay for the shipping! If you want to do this, contact me for details!
Very nice! I have a bunch of peacock feathers just sitting around.

I am getting closer to placing an order with Urch/Turnland poultry I am good for 10-12 chicks. Need someone(or more) to help round the order up to 25. 7.00 per chick all straight run plus 20.00 shipping split between us. I could have them delivered to me but I am pretty remotely located. I am also going to attempt to fill the order out locally.

Has anyone ordered chicks from them before? How much lead time do they give you? Do they give an approximate delivery window?

If I can fill out the order I am definitely ordering Houdan and possibly Silver Penciled Wyandottes

I rechecked the list that was posted, and the RC RIWs are not on it. The reds are, and the whites are on their website list

. Might try calling and asking tomorrow.

There are some other birds I wouldn't mind having or getting for family members, but the RC Rhode Island Whites are my chickeny holy grail right now. Can you remind me where you are located as well?

Oh, crud. Thanks for the info, at least I will be somewhat prepared.

And maybe what you get from Sandhill will be better on the penedesenca it said they select for egg color not form, that should of told me something . The eggs from those hens where not dark at all either ;(

Generally, preservationist places try to keep as many of the genes as possible in a breed. The problem is that most breeds are made from other breeds so if you do not breed to the standard you lose the characteristics of the breed. If the breeder working with the rose come Rhode Island Whites at Sand Hill knows their stuff, they may be breeding to the standard. It is not as likely with them though. The theory is that you can breed the back to standard but really?

Have you checked the Rhode Island White thread?
