California - Northern

Moving and I want to buy eggs.

I Have a proposition for anyone who is interested. I live in the central valley and have just taken a job in Idaho. So on the 29th of May i will be traveling from the Merced area up through Sacramento and Reno and then to Idaho. I have loved raising chickens and have even built my own incubator using the cooler-bator plans from BYC. However i used a mini-fridge and it works great. I am not taking any of my birds up to Idaho with me but i would like to take a bunch of eggs or new chicks (since they are easier to transport).

Does anyone that lives in the northern California are Have any hatching eggs that i could buy on the 29th? I have loved the wyandotte breed especially the blue wyandottes, marans, americuana, orpingtons and barnvelders especially Or really anythng that is Blue in color (I love blue chickens). But I might consider other breeds. Due to my chicken addiction and the money i have spent on birds and eggs in the past. My wife has placed me on a budget; 6 to 8 dollars a dozen.

If you will have any hatching eggs that will be less than a week old on the 29th. Will you please message me. I would love to hear what is available and if we can get some eggs to hatch up there. the chicken community is larger in Nor. Cal than it is in my area of Idaho. You can send me a Message here on BYC. Or I can get you my phone number if needed.

Thanks,
Steven
Sorry you missed the partyhere on Sunday there were soooooooooooo many hatching eggs going around from all over. I can save some Blue/Black Ameraucana eggs for you & some BCM eggs if you want. Let me know ahead of time. I just hatched a couple of BCM chciks & a few B/B Ameraucanas to refresh my breeding pens that are getting older now. If your message gets around i am sure you will find many differnt breeds available by then.

Try deb birds in madera, I know she usually has some eggs hatching all summer and currently has some Ameracauna chicks.

Quote: Whole cuts of beef re the ones least likely to carry bacteria. Ground beef is a problem because the grinding process pushes the bacteria into the meat so it takes longer cooking to kill it. Solid pieces are pretty safe as long as the outside is cooked.

The meat was cooked so this was not raw meat being cleaned up. Bleaching could have been done after the dinner was over if at all.

I do not bleach in the kitchen ever though.

One boy in that group is autistic too.

How long after the 21st day do you all give eggs to hatch under a broody? Tomorrow will be 25 and there's still 4 eggs to go
Check the eggs. Usually a broody will not sit on unhatched eggs more than a couple of days. She starts taking care of the chicks instead.

Thank you both. I just candled all 4 and they look like they might be duds from pictures I've found online. Cant Really make out the shape of a chick in any just a dark mass to one end. She has been off quite a bit showing the other 5 where the food and water is. I had posted elsewhere about one chick being wobbly but seems to be pulling thru.
Also have ducks hatching under a mallard right now.
Its been a lot of fun so far :)

I apologize if it was responded to but didn't see an answer.
Unless my post didn't go through.
Was wondering what you feed hen and chicks in a layer pen.
Flock raiser seems more for assorted baby birds

Flock raiser and free choice calcium. I grind up the crumbles for the very little ones.
