California - Northern

Hi Lisa, I hope you don'y mind me jumping in here, but I thought I would clarify for people who may be interested in your roosters from my eggs that the rooster in the second picture is not a wheaten, but looks to be a cross from my buff Ameraucana hen x blue wheaten Ameraucana rooster. Also, the OE rooster is a cross of golden "cuckoo" Marans x wheaten Ameraucana. :)  They are all beautiful roosters and I hope they find good homes.

I absolutely don't mind and appreciate the correction. I'll edit my original post & my records. Thank you!

Speaking of extra roos, I have a few. Anyone interested in them?
I may have pullets to pair with them, not sure yet.

- a blue wheaten ameraucana

- a buff x wheaten ameraucana

- Olive Egger (Gold Cuckoo Marans x Wheaten Ameraucana)

- at least 3 mottled orpingtons

- 2 buffxcolumbian orpingtons

- 4 or so blue or black frizzled ameraucanas

- 1 Pita Pinta
This pic is from July. He bigger & more filled out now.

Edited to correct breed & coloring
Nice looking boys! I have lots of extra Pita Pinta cockerels that will go to freezer camp if I don't find new homes for them. I also have more pullets than I need for my breeding program. You would have a nice start to a breeding program with Lisa's cockerel and a few of my pullets! Hint hint hint!

Yep! This guy just starting crowing today so he's now fast-tracked for rehoming. He has until Sunday or its off to either freezer camp or the feedstore.
He is really staring to come into his prime. So pretty.

Hi folks, it has been a long time since I have posted. Is anyone going to the Heirloom Festival tomorrow? I will be there wandering about. Plan to be in the barn for Walt's poultry talk - need to see how he handles hecklers.

Thought I'd ask here as well...one of my hens had a gush of watery fluid yesterday evening when she was laying an egg. I basically found the egg in a big puddle of liquid. It was clear & didn't smell bad.

This morning she is not very active; she is just standing in the coop drinking water; not eating. Her crop is full of water. Any ideas of what could be wrong?

Are you putting anything in the drinking water like ACV or some thing else ......

If you could put her in a separate small holding cage that would catch her droppings and you could measure the amount of water she is drinking and the amount of food she is eating if any at all ....

A natural medicine is hard boiled egg or scrambled not a lot maybe just one egg and see if she will eat any as this will help clean her out and if she will eat it all try an egg a day for a week and I have used this for years and have had really good out comes .....
