Is anyone within an hour or so of Sacramento have hatching eggs they are willing to sell who also has them available now and is around this morning? . I am bathing for a neighbor friend who has been caring for my chickens and the person I was gonna get eggs from this morning overextended and is now backed up on orders but I have to set them in the next day or two to hatch before going on vacation. Neighbor isnt picky on breed but wants a variety and fairly calm/docile as he has young kids. Can be mix of layers and ornamentals. Anybody? Anybody?

Call Debbie at the Elvirta Feed Store. She sells hatching egg for a dollar each. My first successful hatch came from her eggs. That's where my EE and Marans came from.

At some point the stars will align and I will be buying eggs from you!! I set off in the opposite direction and an headed for the mountains! Before I go to redding I'm gonna have to get some eggs from you!

I lock the cages now... like really lock.

yep, I didn't show at the stockton fair because I didn't get the entry form in, but I didn't know about the stealing so I didn't have a lock, I would have been devastated if one of my chickens had gotten stolen! I'll make sure to do that at the Sonoma County Fair!!!

Maybe next time. I might go get some from her again. Everyone loves my blue Marans I hatched from her. When I was putting the roosters back outside this morning, she jumped up to me and calmly watched my put the roosters into their run. I had to pet her of course...The EE laid her first egg the other day:

Some pictures of my flock - they are almost 7 months and have just started laying...well at least 2 of them! My interest is in improving the breed and will be working with some well respected breeders to do so.

I have 2 smooth hens (when got her crest all wet before the pictures!), 1 frizzle hen and the roo.


I've also got 8 grow-outs, about 2 1/2 months...can't wait to see how they develop!
