California - Northern

Thanks CaliChick! I've entered Campine, a Lakenvelder, a NH, a pair of BCM and in bantams, a buff Brahma and a BR. They're all still a little young to be competitive (changing feathers at the moment), but it will be fun anyway and my DH's first show.

Judging doesn't start until Sat. morning, so if you want to see any of the results, Sat afternoon or Sunday would be a better choice. On the other hand, less people on Friday...............it's a judgement call.

And thanks, I've been involved in 4H since about '88, it's a great program.

This is Joe Cocker our BO cockerel. haha

random cockerel. he was being silly hopping on that and making it swing.

and then eyeballing the grub.

this is one of my pretty little BO pullets. 7 weeks old now I think? Or 8? lol

random shot of my daughter and one of my goslings- Chuck.

My big girls- I think they are over 4 months old- although I am not totally sure of their age. Not quite to the point of laying.

I took some more but these are my faves from today. :) Hope everyone is well!

Great looking Flock you have!

It was much nicer today. There was moisture on the cement this morning and it was so much cooler. I still had the mister on. They seem to really like it. No panting today for them!

Fantastic photos. love them!

What did you do for treatment??? I came home tonight to one of my 1 week old silkies doing the exact same thing!!

Jeff, the only thing I know about this is what Candace (Chickee) told me in a pm. I'm sure she won't mind me sharing:

I had a pretty good hatch but with some problems. One of the 3 bantam d'Anver chicks hatched with a Thiamine deficiency (comes from the hen having a Thiamine deficiency) and was what they call a "Star Gazer" which starts with them looking upwards and then the neck twists backwards and they can't stand. I tried all sorts of things and was going to put it out of its misery when suddenly it started to get better and now it is normal!!! It took a lot of research and diligence but it paid off

I gave it baby Polyvisol vitamins, B12 liquid drops and force fed it cooked egg yoke and water for two days before it started to come out of it.

You could try to pm her for more info. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Oh my, Chuck has grown since we've seen him! Good thing he's friendly!

Read that someone installed a swinging perch in their run to help alleviate chicken boredom. Said the chickens loved it. Bet yours would too.

All your chickens look really great!

Copper. One of our little BCM cockerels

The oogly one on the right is a BCM/Black Orp mix- looks like a cockerel too.

i seriously love orpingtons. i would love to have some patterned ones now too!

one of the big girls.

This is another one of the mixes- looks like a pullet. What do you think?

Look at my poor little turkey looking Orpington...hehe.

Cockerel and pullet- they are so soft!

This is Samson a BCM. He is king of the coop. Keeps everyone in line- even all the other cockerels and the big girls who are twice his age and 3 times his size. No copper on him yet that I can see.

Our mouser Odie. ;) He will sleep among the chickens and ducks and geese. But show him a mouse or lizard and he is all over that dinner!

Ok all done sharing! Sorry for clogging up the thread!
