Wow great lists everyone! I have the same things you guys have so nothing to add yet. Found this thread the other day about what to have on hand for chickens: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/88950/the-chicken-medicine-cabinet-help-create-a-helpful-thread. Also found this website: https://sites.google.com/a/poultrypedia.com/poultrypedia/medicine-chart.

I'm glad everyone seems to be having a good day today! I had 4 more quail hatch last night. One has really messed up feet so I think either the humidity in the incubator was too high or too low. I'm waiting to see if they straighten out on their own today before I splint. I had one yesterday come out with weird feet and today it's totally fine. I seriously can not believe any of them hatched! So exciting!!
Leave them on wire if they have wonky feet. If it still doesn't fix itself, I use cut up furniture pads and tape or band aids. It seemed like the band aids on their own didn't do it on quail, dunno why.

What types hatched?? I cant wait to see em!

Oh and for those of you near Auburn - there's a Tractor Supply going in where the 84 Lumber used to be. (Hwy 49 and Dry Creek Road)

It's not open yet, but there's a sign saying coming soon.

We're having one open in Placerville too. Can't wait, the rural equivalent of a kitfchen "crap" store. Love em!

Whole different hobby part of my life. I LOVE to cook and do lots of competitive baking and some cooking. My heart races when I see a kitchen "crap" store. I can spend hours walking up and down the aisles just looking at stuff.

But I am just as happy in a feed/supply store and building supply. I have a WIDE range of interests,

What's a kitchen crap store? LOL I feel so lost! I LOVE cooking and baking. I have so many recipes stashed. Love it!

I moved Hope to a bigger crate. The tiny little laundry basket was too small to put water or food in- she had to rely on me to give her sips. I didn't think she would make it this far so- had to adjust my plan. Good thing we have a zillion and 1 various sized totes around here. I put a small bowl of water and flock raiser in there. I do not anticipate her wanting to eat but I felt badly not having anything in there just in case. She was very interested in watching my finger move the food around in the bowl and she drinks every time I put the bowl of med water to her beak. Her guts are making ALL kinds of whacky noises. Copper's did that too. What the heck is causing that. It's really loud! When it happens their eyelids start closing a bit like they are having some minor discomfort. SO weird.

trying... to... resist... ordering... more... chicks...

there are just so many fabulous kinds! now i see how some of you have gotten up to 200+ chickens... I've got six now, and four on order for a 8/15 hatch, BUT the breeder is unsure one of the breeds (the cream legbars) will have good enough hatching success -- so now i'm looking around at other possible chicks to get at the same time, and OMG there are way too many cool ones to consider. how on earth am i going to keep this to a reasonable number?!?!

(of course the coop/run size is ultimately the limit, but i kind of overbuilt it, 8x4 henhouse inside 8x12 coop -- probably space for more chickens than i reasonably should have.)

surfing breeders' websites and daydreaming,
laura
